Full size version and my first one. Like a lot of folks I have overlooked this pistol for years. It's not particularly pretty to look at but I hear a lot of good things about it's performance. So I decided to try one. I plan to change to decocker only and add Trijicon night sights, but other than that no changes. Will likely see night stand duty no carry work. 2023 model.

They are great guns. One caveat, use a bit of grease on the rotating lugs.

CS, thanks for the heads up. I usually use a thin grease for my autos.

There are really only 2 modifications the pistol actually needs:

1. The hammer is way over sprung. If you replace the m,an inspiring with a Wilson combat 12# spring for a model 92, the trigger gets tremendously better and the ignition will still be totally reliable.

The standard factor batwing safety lever has a sharp edge on it that wil tear up your thumb if you shoot it a lot. When you remove the lever to punch out the decent (which accomplishes the type G conversion), break the top outer edge of the safety lever to round it off. It makes the pistol eminently more shootable.

Other than that, it really needs nothing.

Those really are excellent guns. I had a full-size that had been converted to a "G" decocker only config, and swapped in the lighter mainspring and an LTT trigger bar. The Langdon part improved the rest quite a bit, but it was never Sig SRT short.

The gun was great on the range, accurate and very smooth, but just big enough that I never carried it. It's not that it's huge, and if it's the only gun I had it would have made a perfectly fine carry gun, but I have a number of more suitable options. I ended up trading it towards my 329PD which has been much more practical for me, but I do miss that PX4. My intent was to replace it with a compact version, but I haven't gotten around to that yet. Maybe some day the right deal will come along when I have some money burning a hole in my pocket and I'll be back in the PX4 game.

I put a lighter mainspring in mine also, and it's very nice now. I also put a section of bicyle inner tube around the grip because it's slippery as goose poop on a pump handle

Very reliable, very soft shooter.

You probably already know but converting it to a G is very easy. You just remove the coil spring and ball detent in the safety mechanism.

I just sold mine! Great shooter but a little large and bulky for me. If I pick up another one, it will be the Compact.

Kinda turned out to be the gun I’d been looking for all my life. Ergonomics are perfect for me, breaks down like a Glock (without a trigger pull). I stippled my preferred backstrap and a half inch vertical strip on the front to eliminate the slipperiness. It’s no thicker than a Glock 19/26, but those batwing safeties give it the illusion of beefy. And yes, do swap out the mainspring, you’ll wind up with a 8-10 pound DA pull.

I’ve wanted a compact in .40 S&W for years. If one is around I don’t have the funds, they want too much $$$ or it’s in rough shape.

I’ve almost bought a LTT compact version a few times now over the last year or so. I just can’t get myself to pay $1200 bucks for a PX4. I may just get the compact carry for like $800 and then send it in to LTT at a later date if the trigger really needs any improving.

Great choice. This was the first firearm I purchased when I got back into shooting shortly before finding SigForum. It's been an excellent shooter with my only complaint being that the sight insert fell out. Its only complaint would probably be that I don't take it and its bang-bang buddies to the range as often as I should.

or find yourself a slightly used one and do the job yourself with parts from Langdon Tactical...mine is VERY accurate and has VERY little recoil...the LTT parts just improved on that and the trigger reset quite a bit...very nice!

I have two compacts. They rival my 92's for my favorite.
I did the same as SiGagain. Installed LTT parts & the day/night sights. I use the Talon grip "tape" but not the rubber. I prefer the skateboard style as I prefer a very aggressive grip. Also changed out the batwing levers for the carry levers. Makes a huge difference.

I had the compact version and I wish that I hadn’t sold it. Unfortunately, like the 92 they have that stupid slide mounted safety. If they had just axed the safety and made it a de cocker only, I wouldn’t have a single complaint about them.

Bought a compact recently myself. It was to be an appendix carry option, and still might find a home there if I can get a holster system that I like.

One complaint - I had a failure to feed on the first range trip using CCI brass cased Blazers. The round didn't chamber all the way.
Could that be the grease on the lugs thing?

I really like the ergos, and the mainspring change is an intriguing next step, but that malfunction is bugging me still.

It's very easy to convert the PX4 safety to a decocker-only configuration. It doesn't even require any additional parts IIRC.

I took the PX4 out today for it's maiden voyage. I shot a mixture of ammo about 70 rounds. Shot some plates and paper. The gun ran like a champ with no problems. In photo 10 rounds at 7 yards the 2-1/2" sticker target was all I had with me. I would feel well protected with this gun.

I have a Compact Carry, it’s one of the best shooting guns I own. My step son has pretty much laid claim to it because it’s such a sweet shooter. I will be looking for another soon and may go with a full size this time.i am a da/sa platform shooter and the CC is as good a da/sa shooter as I’ve ever had the pleasure of shooting, I like the P30v3 I have but the PX4cc blows it away as far as shootability in my opinion

I have a full size with an optic and the compact. In my hands the compact shoots a little better. If you want a nice trigger pull install a Beretta match hammer with the LTT trigger bar. I like to run a 19# 1911 mainspring in mine.
