A CBOB was the first handgun I ever "drooled over".

Ended up buying a non-bobbed Valor Commander years later, and sticking some wood grips on it, in order to scratch that itch.

Me too, even borrowed money from my Nanny as a young 21 year old to buy one for I believe it was $925. I think I paid her back the next day but I did not want to lose out on that thing lol.

Very nice pistol,congrats. I never really cared for the 1911 pistol but now I have the bug. I had/traded into a couple Dan Wesson guns in the past but sold them on the cheap/traded one, which was stupid on my part but those bob-tails really look nice. It is really amazing at the quality to detail you get in a Dan Wesson. Report back to us with a range report.

Will do, I was all set to go the very next day, but family stuff came up and I couldn’t. Very much looking forward to it, have taken it out to mess with it many times. First time with a safety so getting used to that, but it feels great and clicks on and off nicely. I feel like resting my thumb after thumbing safety off will feel comfortable shooting, just take some getting used to.

Not a CBOB, but still a DW. Yes, this is a 9mm b/c that's what I've got stockpiled.



I had tons of problems with my Guardian even after sending back to DW, where they reamed the chamber, tensioned the extractor, replaced the barrel link, and "dressed" the mag release (whatever that means). I ultimately had to swap out the mag release for a EGW raised catch. Finally, after about 2,200 rounds of tinkering with magazines, springs and ammo, I discovered that my particular pistol wants to be run on Metalform "Springfield" style magazines with no rear spacer. And it hates HSTs that aren't 147 grain 1.13" OAL. People rave about WC, Tripp, and other 9mm 19l1 mags that all use the same tube style with rear spacer. Those were not 100% reliable in my Guardian.

Finally got to shoot it. Zero complaints it felt great and shot great. Ran 200 FMJ through it, no issues. I mostly shot steel so didn’t really get any grouping or anything, but seemed like it hit what I was aiming at (out to roughly 60 yards) when I did my job. That sweet light short trigger pull and reset was fun, too!

Ran another 200 today. This damn thing runs nice! Shooting Federal, it gets dirty as fuuuck, but it keeps going. When I do my part it’s obviously accurate, too!

Very nice family of DW guns! I get it, they are awesome guns! Little more tedious to clean, but I like them clean and with the stainless steel you see every little bit of residue haha. This is my only .45 at the moment, but I don’t find that it recoils much more than 9mm. Had some younger guys try it today, too, who are all plastic 9mm shooters and they enjoyed it and didn’t think recoil was bad.
