Never knew I needed one of these. Picked up the 9mm dirt cheap. Easy to find mags. Really shoot it well as I started with revolvers.

Found a .40. Just as cheap. Yeah. The .40 is really frisky in that little gun. Bought another 9mm upper on eBay. (I mean, it’s modular, I should take advantage of that). So, I own 2 1/2 Sig O250 subcompacts.

Why these never caught my eye when they first came out, I don’t know. But. I really like them. Particularly since I like appendix carry and, prefer DA triggers. Like my P239 DAKs.

One problem. Recoil springs do not exist. Not in 9mm subcompact. There is nothing that cross references. Not even Wolf makes them. It’s like Sig walked away from the platform completely. Convinced, one would much rather have an Sig P365 (I have one) or a Sig P320(and, I don’t want one)

The P239 9mm recoil spring is a match for the P250 subcompact in 357 SIG and .40. But, nothing for the 9mm version.

Took a P239 recoil spring and clipped off coils until it “felt” slightly heavier than the used p250 recoil spring. (That I have no idea how many rounds are on it). Flattened the cut end a little and installed it. Perfect match on the recoil spring guide. Fits and functions fine. Probably have 200 rounds through it.

I’m not crazy about having to fabricate springs not actually designed for the gun. But, it seems to work well.

Has anyone else found a workaround?

Pretty sorry of Sig to completely abandon a platform that not very old.

The P250 was not a popular handgun during its ~9 year run from 2007-2016. Reviews and public sentiment were middling, sales were poor, and marketing was minimal. So it's not surprising that it wasn't on your radar.

This lack of popularity was partly (perhaps mostly) a result of the P250 being a DAO gun introduced during a time when DAO guns were basically dead and even DA/SA was dying, since the vast majority of market demand was already firmly in striker fired guns.

That's exactly what happened. Doubly so, in fact.

First, they discontinued the P250 in 2016 after years of lackluster sales, to focus solely on the striker-fired P320 that shares its form factor, modular system, and accessories. (And which proved to be significantly more popular than the P250 could ever hope to have been.)

Then, even though the P250's Subcompact size itself was initially carried over into the P320 platform, even these P320 Subcompact guns and accessories were later totally discontinued in 2020, to focus just on the Full Size/Carry/Compact sizes.

And honestly, rightfully so. The P320 Subcompact was discontinued as the P365 started to really hit its stride, and the P320SC doesn't do anything better than the P365, while it does a lot of things worse. Mainly, it's downright huge for a subcompact, even larger than the G26 which itself is a rather chunky "subcompact" pistol by modern definitions. There are much better and noticeably more compact options for a 10-12 round subcompact pistol these days than the P250SC/P320SC.

But the result of all that is that today, Subcompact parts and accessories are tough to find, and P250 parts and accessories are even tougher to find. Because they've all been gone from the market for 6-10 years.

All companies drop poor-selling products, not just Sig or even just gun companies. Companies simply cannot afford to continue to produce and support poor performers using their limited resources and production capabilities.

Not an exact solution, but one potential workaround is to try to find a 9mm P250 Compact slide and barrel and use those on your Subcompact frame instead. You add a little bit of muzzle length, but the 9mm Compact recoil springs are available.

I did that for a brief period with my P320C, before dropping the Subcompact grip setup in favor of just using a P365:

Been a while since I've had a P250 apart, but based on the commonality with certain other P320 components, I'd bet one of these would work:

I thought I didn't like the 250 until I got one.
I have the compact version and it's terrific.

It won't go bang unless you damn well demand it to. I have no problem with carrying it chambered.

The P250 doesn't use the captive dual recoil spring setup of the P320. It uses a separate guide rod and spring like the classic P22x series.

And in fact the .40/357 P250SC uses the same spring as the .40/.357 P239 and SP2022, the .40/.357 P250C uses the same spring as the .40/.357 P229, and the .40/.357 P250FS uses the same spring as the .40/.357 P226.

Unfortunately, while the 9mm P250F and 9mm P226 share a recoil spring, there is no overlap for 9mm P250C or 9mm P250SC with other 9mm P-series springs. Hence why they are tougher to find these days. (9mm P250C springs are still available from time to time, but 9mm P250SC springs are unobtanium.)

Wolff doesn't offer springs for the P250. Not enough demand.

Maybe not as designed, but will it fit/function? IIRC the barrels and takedown levers are interchangeable, so that shouldn't be an issue. The question would be if it will fit through the hole in the front of the slide.

It will not. The P250's guide rod and guide rod hole in the slide are noticeably thinner than the P320C/P320SC dual nested recoil spring assemblies. They are not interchangeable.

(However, the P250FS and P320FS guide rods/springs are interchangeable.)

I remember getting one at a gun show not long after they came out. I thought it was going to be "the gun" for me. After taking it to the range for the first time, I sold it. Trying to shoot it well and fast was not in the cards for me.
