The info provided here was off, for that time period. NSP troopers at that time and until about a year and a half ago we’re giving the choice of a Glock 21 or 22. Now the standard issue is a Glock 45.

Two Nebraska State Patrol service pistols. A Glock 21 and a 30. Both in the NSPXXXUS serial range. Home of the only Unicameral state government.

Yep. As mentioned, our troopers went with the G17, but the G45 was adopted by several other state LE agencies, including State Parks and Game & Fish.

That 50 state list that was posted earlier by sgalczyn is from 2017, and was outdated/incorrect even then.

9mm might still be the minority, but I do know that the gap has closed significantly in just the last few years.

Update and correction from the info from that link. Rhode Island State Troopers currently are issued Sig Sauer P320 in 9mm. Previously, they had P226 DAKs in .357sig. Before that was Berretaa 96F in .40S&W. They never had the P229 series.

California Highway Patrol replaced their S&W 4006 & 4006TSW with the M&P 40 in 2017.

In an interesting twist, LAPD just announced last week they'll be switching to FN 509 MRD-LE, that's a 10,000-person department. LAPD is one of the more 'liberal' departments as they allow officers some latitude for selecting their service pistol. Glock 22 is what's issued however, various Beretta's, S&W and Glocks are authorized, as are 1911's for those qualified.

I wonder when the last LEO revolver went out of service as a standard issue gun?? I mean as a primary weapon and not some type of back up or off duty. Anyone know?

When I was growing up, Oregon Troopers all had S&W 686's. Today it's all S&W M&P.

Last time I saw a revolver on a cop it was inside the secure area of the Midway airport. Older cop wearing a white shirt and sure enough, revolver on his hip. This was ... I forget.... sometime around 2011.

I kind of miss those revolver days for several reasons.

Nice. I forgot about the G30’s being issued to the troopers in the Investigation Division and Executive Protection.

NYPD was certainly one of the last, finally forcing the last couple dozen of their grandfathered-in revolver-carrying officers to transition to semiautos in August 2018.

They aren't switching their entire department, they're switching what they are issuing to new hires. They will be issuing a few hundred guns a year. Not that's it's not a big contract, but it's not as significant as some people are assuming it will be.

None of them are still using .45 GAP. The final holdout, Florida, switched to 9mm last year.

New York had switched to .45 ACP in 2018.

South Carolina had switched to 9mm in 2017.

Georgia had switched to 9mm in 2015.
