Peace through superior firepower ![]() |
Well, it's all the worse, I suppose, that I've decided against removing the safety on mine. ![]()

I did this on three Hi-Powers about forty years ago using method @2. No internet magic back then, so I took them apart the way you would disassemble the gun. BTW the commercial guns back then came with a polished safety and the front of the magazine where the safety rubs was polished as well

FWIW, I used to remove the magazine safeties, but there is a downside. The magazine safety spring also applies pressure to reset the trigger. Removing the mag safety does allow the magazines to drop free, and reduces trigger pull weight a few ounces. But I did not care for a trigger reset that is even softer/soggier than the standard Hi Power displays. The MKIII guns come with a softer 3-coil trigger spring instead of the stronger 2-coil spring that T-Series and older Hi Powers had. On the MKIII guns, I sometimes used the stronger 2-coil springs on guns with the mag safety removed. I quit removing mag safeties on my Hi Powers many years ago....YMMV BTW, My guns required the trigger to be removed to remove the mag safeties. Maybe just bad Kharma following me ![]() NRA Life

FWIW, don’t know your level or comfort in altering parts but you can re-contour the face of the mag disconnect where it makes contact with the magazine as well as polish the magazine where the disconnect comes into contact with it. If I remember correctly there used to be several YouTube instructional videos on this process. Cylinder & Slide also used to offer this service. It improves trigger pull but leaves the mag disconnect in tact. This part is still available and inexpensive should you ruin your part.
