Let's leave the gazillion variants of the same model out. You know, the Platinum, Rainbow, Elite, Extreme, Scorpion, Tacops, etc... Focus only on the major models. My research shows the following. P210 (P49) - 1949 P220* (P75/Browning BDA) - 1975 P224 - 2012 P225 - 1978 P225-A1 - 2015 P226** - 1982 P227 - 2013 P228 - 1988 P229*** - 1992 (The M11-A1, out in 2012, is just another P229 variant.) P229 Carry - 2015 P230 - 1977 P232 - 1996 P239 - 1996 P245 - 1998 P250 - 2007 P290 - 2011 P320 - 2014 P365 - 2017 SIG Pro (SP2340 / 2009) - 1998 P238 - 2009 P938 - 2011 1911 - 2004 * = The P220 milled stainless slide started in 1999. ** = The P226 milled stainless slide started in ***= Major change was made to the slide design of the P229, and P226, in 2009 with the new long external extractor. If I have any info wrong, please correct them. Thanks.This message has been edited. Last edited by: 12131, Q

I thought the SIGPRO line was launched in 1998 with the SP2340. Then the SP2009 came in 1999 (9mm in ‘99). Updated in 2002 as SP2022 for the French 20 year contract set to expire in 2022. ------------------------------------------------ Charter member of the vast, right-wing conspiracy

I didn’t realize the long extractor has been around since 2009. Time flies.

That's just the Flomax talking |
My research is similar to BuddyChryst. The SP2340 was inroduced in July 1998, and first reviewed by the "American Rifleman" in January 1999. It was followed by the SP2009 in September 1999. Both were replaced by the SP2022 in late 2003.

You guys are right. The SIG Pro was first announced in 1998. Anyone with a firm year of the P245? Q

Firearms Enthusiast |
The serial number list is showing quite a few 1998 years so going off that 1998. For some reason i had thought the 245 was around before that but i guess i was wrong.

Thanks, Mike. How did I miss that? Q

Would you be interested in a second list in year sequence rather than model number sequence?

You mean, like the following? Let's leave the gazillion variants of the same model out. You know, the Platinum, Rainbow, Elite, Extreme, Scorpion, Tacops, etc... Focus only on the major models. My dad's P239 is from 1996, I'm about 95% sure on that. The Enemy's gate is down.

Yesand again the sigforum serial number list is showing two 1996 P239 guns so you would be in line about your dads gun.

Oh, a definite error about the P239. Thanks, guys. Q

No love for the Sig Sauer Trailside? I guess I can understand that since it's just a rebranded Hammerli .

No pistols with names allowed, like Trailside or Mosquito. Just model numbers. But seriously, neither was made by SIG.This message has been edited. Last edited by: wgsigs,

Had 229 in 40/357 a few months after it hit the lgs. 239 in 40/357, same. Sig Pro, same. Wow it’s been a quarter century now since my first. Time flies. What am I doing? I'm talking to an empty telephone
