As the title says, does anyone have experience with the Glock 47? Have it at the house, carry it at work, or shoot competition with it?

Ben Stoeger seems to like it.

I have 2 of them with about a thousand rounds through each one. One of them is in our bedroom for a home defense and the other is becoming my favorite range gun. Both guns have fed 115 through 147 grain FMJ and my favorite carry load, Federal 124 grain +p HST without any issues.

A large department just adopted the G47 with Acro P2. They will start rolling them out after the first of the year. I've had a G47 with an Acro P2 since last year. It's every bit as good as the G17 with advantages of being modular with the G19, G45 and G49. They are excellent.

Have one; balance seems to be a bit different than the G17, but enjoyable to shoot. Does a bit of concealed carry. Only one hiccup when the very first round in a brand-new magazine didn't pick up. After that, flawless. No red dot on it. Most rounds fired have been Gold Dots or Sig V-Crown.

I know of the department of which you speak...

It came down to the 45 or 47 and more of the officers involved in testing preferred the 47. I voted 45 just to save the tiny bit in holster length, but it's not my car seat it will be tearing up. Both are excellent firearms.

Do you like the G17? If so you will like the 47. Some folks swear they can feel a difference in balance or recoil impulse (it has a G19 recoil system), but I'm not among them.

Pretty sure you know my son. He was heavily involved in the testing.

Yes, both are excellent firearms. Test scores should skyrocket either way. Wink

As a huge fan of the G17, I'd have to say if I needed a new full-size 9mm...I'd be hard pressed not to get the G47 mainly because I have a gen5 19. (Parts sharing capability)

If you don’t mind, what pistol are they transitioning from?

And I greatly appreciate everyone’s input.

Pretty good chance. If anything they may need to make the course harder. It's a much easier gun to shoot.

It ends up being fairly irrelevant in most duty holsters, especially when a weapon light is involved. The Safariland holsters for all of the 9mm guns with a TLR-1 or X300 attached are all the same, just with a different indexing plug. There is a specific holster for the 19/45 with TLR-7, but those aren't really much of a "duty" light.

Other than it not being anything "revolutionary", I don't think I've heard any significant detractors against the G47. It slots in with the G17 for size, and if you have a Gen 5 G19 slide, you can make a 45. Nothing crazy there. I even assembled my own 47, by swapping slide from my 45 and 49.

Now I just need a spare G45, as I do really like the G45 too.

What agencies besides Customs and Border protection are carrying the G47?

Thanks for the responses!

Any agency that wants a MOS foot print 17 sized pistol. Glock only makes the 17 MOS guns in runs of 2000 or more to fulfill specific agency orders.

We have somewhere around 10 47s right now. And unless something changes with Glock, eventually we’ll be all 47s.

Are you saying the 47 is easier to come by than a 17 MOS?

Glock ceased to offer the 17 MOS about 6 months or so ago. You can get a 17, but not MOS. The 47 is the only MOS option in that length.

Who knows, in another six months they may offer it again.

According to an article I read, the Secret Service adopted it after seeing the CBP pistol. As it was only one source, I can't vouch for it.
