Hey while we're adding stuff, how about private messages? I get real tired of having to look in my email, on my smartphone, for communications from the forum.

I suspect he has gone off his meds or off the rails.

He had a smarmy thread along the same lines, about 1911s. I deleted it this morning because I just found out it's 2020, thanks to ol' John.

Looks like I can! Double-checking...

Yes!

(Not too shabby for 1920's tech, if I do say so, myself. [Note to mods: Photo's from 2019. I hope being a year out-of-date is ok.])

Next, the host needs to understand that the vast majority of the world uses common email from GMAIL, YAHOO mail etc. Allow us to edit our information to use these common email providers please.
You're only about a year behind things, melon head:

SIGforum registration is now open to email addresses such as gmail and the like

'course, that was 2019, but now it's 2020, just like you said! No shit, I checked the calendar and sure enough, it's 2020! When did that happen?? All this time, I've been thinking "Boy, 2019 sure is taking a long time. I wonder when 2020 is gonna get here?"

This has been a fun SIG site for a long time but I think it's long overdue that the Host of the sight add the functionality to post pictures without the need to go through the tedious and often futile task of finding some OTHER third party sight to host pictures.
Look around. Do you see any ads? This forum is privately funded. Do you have any idea at all how much more it would cost for storage and bandwidth fees in order to be able to host member photos? Do you want to be charged a fee to use this site? Do you want to have flashing banner ads all over the place? You don't have a clue what it costs to run a place like this without any sponsors. Really, you don't. The bitching you're doing is clear proof of that.

Anything else you want to lecture "the host" about? If so, just be consistent and make sure you don't know fuck about it.

wasn't this on page one of the waiver?

excellent post by the way, Big Grin

Instead, you just edited that part out of your post when you were proven wrong by "the host". Where I come from, that's called chickenshit behavior. Be a man. Own up. You were wrong. Admit it, instead of slinking away with your edit.

After all, it's 2020, right?

You done bought the whole can o' whoopass. You'll be fortunate if I don't yank your posting rights.

Hey, the allowing of email from Gmail and Yahoo is new by comparison of the forum. So FU on that point.

The part about posting pictures is still completely valid.

I've frequented this forum for a very long time. I've tried a couple different photo sharing sites over the years, and they all either simply went away or became unusable. Notice the photo on my avitar??? Can't see one?? Because THAT site went away so all the photos that I spent the time to post so I could share here all went away.

Today, a simple search shows that a 4 Terabyte hard drive can be bought for $99. Simply limiting the size of photos to something reasonable and the host could very easily allow posting of photos stored directly on the site for very little money. Probably no more than is already being spent as hardware needs to be upgraded and maintained over time anyway.

If you can't take some constructive criticism that's on you.

I get what your saying but infrastructure isn’t as simple in most cases as throwing a WD RED at it. There is more it. Not to mention the added work and maintenance.

Most sites that have survived privately run are labors of love and have to be as they can be a huge pain in the ass.

Point is this place is free and I don’t have to deal with ad banners and god damn pop ups and those friggen auto play movies and those god damn hover over links and I want to keep it that way.

Not being able to upload a photo here. TINY price to pay.

And yes you will get a ration of shit because well that’s how all good groups of friends are you give and get your ration of shit. I would cut losses and just say fuckit no pictures here and call it a day.
