Just found a very nice P245 at a gun show yesterday. It only had one magazine but I already have 5 more coming (2 Sig P220 compact 6 round, 1 Sig P220 8 round plus an X-Grip adaptor, 2 ACT 8 round mags just to try).
I had one of these when they first came out but I gave it to my oral surgeon for partial payment of my bill

I have seen several of these over the past years but they were all pretty well scarred up. There seems to be a lot of discussion about the P245’s that were made in Germany. I was not aware that some of them were US made and others were made in Germany but this one says made in Germany.
I am stocked up on .357 Sig P239 recoil and decock lever springs which fit these guns. Also, the P220 mags fit and function correctly from what I am reading.
Thanks for letting me share this with you,
Trooper Joe

Trooper Joe, I enjoy seeing your posts because you have great taste (meaning it mirrors my own, lol). Yes, the full-size P220 Mags will work. I used to carry an 8 rounder as my reload when I carried my P245 and P220 compact. Apart from some finish corrosion due to sweat, I've never had a problem with an ACT Mag. They're a quality product.
Check you compact mags for a little dimple near the back just below the feed lips. This is a feature of a design upgrade that prevents the top round from riding forward when the slide closes. The older style without the dimple will work just fine, but sometimes a partially loaded mag won't drop free because it gets held up by that top round that's hanging part way out the front of the mag. The dimple fixes this.
That was a good buy, you're gonna like it! Here's my pair...both served as a primary off-duty carry piece for a few years, and that P220 Compact is still my go-to when I want a .45. IMO the P220 is about as good as you can get in a .45 caliber defensive handgun, and the compact variants are the most day-to-day practical of the bunch.
ETA: Here's a photo of what I was referring to with the dimple on the magazines. The one on the right has the dimple, the one on the left does not.

I didn’t say what I paid but yes, $500 was a great buy
It was a good buy regardless of price . $500 makes it even better! That's about $100 less than I paid for either of mine, and mine aren't fance two-tone!

I am aware of the magazine dimple upgrade by Sig. All 5 I ordered have the dimple (2 Sig six round P220 compact mags, 1 eight round Sig mag with X-Grip adaptor, 2 ACT eight round mags plus an extra X-Grip adaptor).
Evidently the P245 I bought in the late 90’s was using magazines with no dimple’s. I had no issues with them other than having difficulty loading all 6 rounds when they were new.

Apologize up front for no pic, but as the somewhat recent owner of a German 245 I can say that gun rocks. I lucked into some 220 compact mags so am set, at least for now. I was not aware of the compatibility of the 357 Sig springs so will have to look into that. Great gun and I personally think you did very well.
Got to the range yesterday. Real pleased with the first two mags at 7 yards.
I did have a few problems with the stock mag with no detent. Last two rounds seemed to jump forward and jam things up. From what I am reading, that is why Sig started putting the indents in the rear upper portion of the mag side panel’s (both sides). My new Sig 8 round mag, with detents, had no trouble.
I was able to buy a mag shell with indents(just the tube with no spring, follower or floor plates) on E-Bay. Last night I switched the follower, spring and floor plates from my stock mag to this shell. At first the follower did not go to the top of the magazine until I figured out that it needed the groves (as per this photo of a new follower) to clear the dimples.
I am still wondering why some P245 owners with the early no dimple mags (including myself with my first P245 from about 1999) report no trouble feeding. I now think that the recoil spring softens up with use thus causing the slide to retract with enough force to allow the top rounds to jerk forward creating the jam situation. I plan on experimenting with this theory as soon as I get the NOS recoil springs I ordered.
Stay tuned
Trooper Joe
