Where are y’all getting magazines/spare parts?

Thanks

I am finding them on line but they are not cheap. Make sure you get the ones with the dimples in them (review this thread). You can get new 8 round Sig p220 mags for about $40. 2 new ACT 8 round mags for about $20 each. I did find a new 6 round P220 mag with dimples but it cost me $120. I found 2 used 6 round P220 mags with dimples for $100 each.

I have seen non-dimpled 6 round mags from $70 to $90 but I would not recommend them. You can get recoil springs for a P239 40/.357 which work on the P245. I also replaced the decocking lever spring which are easy to find.

My grips are pretty nice with just a few marks on the left hand grip. P220 grip panels will work but the left side panel will say P220 instead of P245. I just ordered a set of Hogue G-10 grips which are supposed to be real nice.

Good luck with your P245.

Thanks Trooper, yep I’ve read this thread closely. You’re right, those 6rd mags with dimples are spendy!

The 245 is one of the best looking guns Sig ever made. Unfortunately, mine has become a safe queen because I unfortunately can't shoot it for shit.

"The people hate the lizards and the lizards rule the people."
"Odd," said Arthur, "I thought you said it was a democracy."
"I did," said Ford, "it is."
"So," said Arthur, hoping he wasn't sounding ridiculously obtuse, "why don't the people get rid of the lizards?"
"It honestly doesn't occur to them. They've all got the vote, so they all pretty much assume that the government they've voted in more or less approximates the government they want."
"You mean they actually vote for the lizards."
"Oh yes," said Ford with a shrug, "of course."
"But," said Arthur, going for the big one again, "why?"
"Because if they didn't vote for a lizard, then the wrong lizard might get in."

Exactly! The “dimpled” mags are sky high. Lots of folks are passing the non-dimpled off for the same price. I’ve got plans for the one I just bought. I talked to Robert Burke yesterday, it’s heading to him first and then probably to CCR for a refinish.

Dry-Fly,

Are you getting the dimples put into a non-dimples mag? Interesting.

I just received two ACT mags from Greg Cote that did not have the dimples. Greg advised me that the ACT mags never had the dimples but he has had no report of problems.

Thanks for the info

Assuming we are talking about the full size 8 round ACT Mags for the P220 they have, indeed, not ever had the dimples as far as I know. I have never had any issues with ACT Mags but I know some folks in the before times Smile had some feed lip issues over time. I have never experienced any problems but I don’t have a ton of rounds through them, nor are they kept loaded so YMMV.

I’ve never had an issue with full sized non dimpled mags for the P220 but have seen an occasional issue with non dimpled mags in my P245. I have a ton of dimpled mags though and only a couple non dimpled so it’s not something I worry about.

Sorry Trooper…I probably didn’t type that out well. No, I’m not dimpling non-dimpled mags. That’s an interesting idea but I’d be scared to potentially mess up a $100 magazine! Eek

Hogue G- 10 grips

Just received these Hogue G-10 grips and I really like them.

At first I thought they were for the non-decocking models of the P245 and P220C.  After reviewing Hogue’s web site for these grips, I tried them again and they fit perfectly (even better than the stock OEM grip panels).  They actually work with the decocking lever even though it looks like there is no grove to accommodate it.

With the OEM grip panels installed, the grip measured 1.28” wide (between the mounting screws). With the Hogue grips installed, this measurement is 1.18”.

Dimple or not, all of my mags (245 and 220 compact) have been issue free, so don’t read too much into the dimple or die train of thought.

I am still a little taken aback by how much the mags for SIGs little red headed step child have increased in value. Smile. No disrespect as I quite like the P245 but it certainly wasn’t setting sales records ablaze back in the day.

Glad you tracked some down.

Stuff like this is the reason I like to have 6-10 mags per gun generally.

No kidding! IIRC I was paying $35 a piece less than 2 years ago. I'm glad I bought a few!
