I have a safe full of nearly completed projects. A registered lower that I never bought/built an upper for. A 229 restore project that needs the slide refinished and new sights. ARs in various states of needing this or that. A M&P 2.0 that needs rebuilt and rebarreled. A Smith 4inch 29 that needs a red ramp replaced and a smooth trigger installed. All have been in the safe for years.

Anyone else as bad as me about unfinished projects?

I've got a nearly unfired 686-4 7 shot, the 4" Mountain Gun barrel for it, an SDM gold bead front sight, a Millet rear sight and a set of finger groove round butt combat grips for it. All part of the plan to make the ultimate .357 revolver. The gun and the parts have been sitting in the dafe for years.

I bought a drill press, jig, and parts kits to build a couple machinegun lowers (I'm an 07/02) and have just never got around to drilling the holes. I believe it's been two years this month.

Built up a 13.7" upper and bought a NF NX8 for it. The optic sits on my desk and the gun is locked in the shop. Over a year. Just need to get it done.

I've got three or four optics guns that need backup sights. Any day now...

Bought a 1301 Tactical maybe three years ago. Needs an optic. Have optics in stock. Just need to mount one.

Probably many, many more. I end up shooting the same five or so "core" pistols and three rifles, but I keep getting new stuff.

I keep a list of those currently in progress.I'm down to five. Two are waiting on manufacturers, one is waiting on the BATFE, one needs me to bust the tools out; and if anyone's got a good source of parts for a FN manufactured 1930 Colombian Mauser, hit me up.

What, me worry?

Surprised you haven't finished the registered AR project, should be priority 1!

I tend to finish projects once I start them (I do 1 at a time to completion.) I do have a lot of plans in my head and a few random parts for projects that I haven't started yet.

I committed to a P365 project since I've never had a really small carry gun (not smaller than a K9 anyway). Have just about everything (Grey XL module, mags, GGI trigger etc.) except the actual P365. Roll Eyes Once I get the 365 it will get milled and a Holosun 507K.

I have an AMT longslide and NPC scope mount that needs a replica Laser Products laser tube made. I need a good fake dissipator barrel for a silly AR15A2 build. And I have a stripped Garand receiver that I need to buy a BM59 parts kit for. Oh, I have a ratty old Parker Hale Mauser, and one of the surplus wood sniper rifle stocks that needs a barrel, scope mount, and a gunsmith to build something neat.

I bought a Mossberg SSI single shot 12ga slug gun. Shot it once and decided it needed a much thicker/softer recoil pad. So I bought a pad and cut the stock down the proper length. Later on the night I cut it, I found the state had changed the area I hunt from shotgun only, to rifle. That would have been 15 years ago? The gun's been disassembled all that time.
The cut stock is siting a few feet away as I type this, it still has the masking tape around the end in preparation for grinding the new pad to size. The pad never went on and I ended up using it on something else.

I have a Martini Henry sporter project I was working on and eded stealing parts off of for another project. It's been sitting in my basement since about the same time^. Next to it is a muzzle loader I've been meaning to fix the lock on since the late 90's.

Had a Springfield MilSpec a few years ago that I had take apart with the intention of building. Never got around to it and ended up selling it still disassembled about 3 years later.

I used to be. There was a time in the mid-to-late 2000s and early 2010s when I would buy whatever milsurp rifles were interesting and cheap, which often included some rifles that were missing parts or having mechanical issues. I'd then add these project rifles to the "to do" list, but rarely got around to them.

I realized back in 2015ish that my milsurp "collection" has just become an "accumulation", lacking any real theme and full of a bunch of stuff that didn't really interest me as much as I thought. So over the next few years I sold off all my extraneous rifles, including all of my project rifles, thus paring my collection down significantly to just the rifles that really interested me while freeing myself of the pile of neverending projects.

I’ve got an AR-10 project that has sat unfinished for several years now. I guess to qualify as a project I’d actually have to work on it. It’s really just an accumulation of parts at this point. I’ve also had two Shadow Systems MR918 frames for about two years now. I just got slides for them and hope to finish them up in January.

I have a couple of 1893 Turk Mauser actions re-heat treated by the Turks in 1930s when they went to 8mm. No barrels or stocks. They are desirable because they are pre 1898 and I got them cheap. Just haven’t stirred up the desire to have one built yet. Maybe a lower pressure round like 7mm Mauser or 250 savage would be fun.

I got a deal on a stripped to the bone 70s Belgian hi power frame. Picked up a slide cheap enough on gun broken. Just needs a barrel and somebody to put it all back together. One of these days. Probly will have a name hi power smith make a custom. I have a few others to shoot till I do something.

Various S&W barrels including an old Heavy Duty barrel in the white because I was gonna customize one. All picked up for a song.

Recently found a crazy deal on a take off Ruger bisley grip frame in stainless. I think I may take this project on myself for swapping it to a regular grip Blackhawk

And of course several AR uppers and lowers that need furniture or BCG.

Bolt guns that need scope bases and rings mounted. Scope bases and rings that need scopes.

M1A full size that needs a front end. To buy it in CA with the evil GI a flash hider was not going to be allowed be the FFL so off it came. Just A threaded barrel. But again needed that work so I got it cheap.

It’s really a sickness. Maybe should get a project finished before buying more guns. But being here in PRK I may come upon something that if I don’t jump on it, I may never get a chance again soon to buy it (the dreaded roster)

I am just the opposite. It drives me nuts if I start a project and cant finish it. I even hate waiting on ordered parts to get shipped to me.

If you want to sell that barrel let me know. I have a square butt no lock 686 that I want a mountain gun barrel for.

Remington 700 on an FDE AICS chassis, chambered in .308 win.

Started out as a factor LTR, police trade-in. Came with a Leupold Mark III tactical scope 4.5-14x mildot.

The action was blueprinted and trued, a carbon fiber barrel installed, and I have a shitty suppressor for it. The suppressor works, but it weighs a ton, and had teething problems. It is/was so bad that the even when the manufacturer was in business, they refused to accept it back for repairs (no, it is not an AAC suppressor). I bought the suppressor as one member of a local group-buy from a then-start up. Well, not afraid to say it, I gambled and I lost on that one.

The gun really deserves a better optic, and more modern, lightweight suppressor. But since I never get out to range with it anymore, I just can't justify the cost for parts that will make it right.

I wouldn't say that I'll never finish it, but it's not a priority right now. I also kind of wish I'd had it chambered in 6.5 Creedmore, which does have me weighing whether it might be better just to sell it and start over (definitely a factor keeping me from putting more money into it).

Same here Yoop.
Did a few Berettas years ago and anxiously awaited parts shipments. As soon as they were delivered, I was assembling.

My 10mm AR pistol.
Been collecting parts for a year or so. Barrel was the last hold out and took like 6 months to arrive.
It came last month.
Still have not gotten around to assembling it.

That reminds me of another unfinished project: a 9mm AR pistol. I’ve got the mags and mag block for the Colt pattern mags, but got distracted when all of the Glock mag lowers started coming out. I’ve never done anything with it.

I don’t know if this thread is going to motivate me to finish all of these, or just serve to remind me how much “stuff” I have.
