I am new to the SA world. I really want a Remington 1875 with a 5 inch barrel. The only one I can find is in .45 Colt from Uberti. Anyone have experience with Uberti? Does anyone else make this model? ** apparently they are unobtanium at the moment unless you want the longer barrel, and I want the 5.5 Don't weep for the stupid, or you will be crying all day

I've never owned one, but I handled and was tempted by their Scholfield model as it seemed well made and quite good looking. I believe they are a quality manufacturer. ____________________________ NRA Life Member, MGO Annual Member

I have the 5.5” Uberti Cattleman blued/case hardened but in .22 LR. It’s very well made and beautifully finished. I would expect the same quality in their centerfire revolvers.

Pietta makes really nice cowboy gun replicas, I'd take a look at those. The actions are really nice.

I have owned a Uberti Cattleman in 45LC for many years. It was a lot of bang for the buck. Have had zero problems with it.

I've got a couple Ubertis and one Pietta. All of them are nice. I find the Ubertis to be the better of my very small collection.

My most recent Uberti was bought new maybe 20 years ago, so maybe things have changed, but the trigger and bolt spring broke after just a few hundred rounds on all five of my Uberti's. It's a simple repair (got how-to-advice from Marzy) and did the last one myself, but paid gunsmiths to do the previous guns. If this is still an issue, get original replacement springs, the Wolff spring I got from MidwayUSA didn't fit, too thick. I haven't shot any of them for quite a while, but I agree they are well-made, finish is outstanding, and I have my eyes on my next one, also a Uberti, this time an 1851 Navy. A caution, I shot Black Powder in all of them, including the .45LC's that I loaded myself, and they are a bitch to clean, if you use the original procedure of soap and water followed by lots of oil. Go with a BP-specific cleaner, and get a big bottle! Either that, or go smokeless and miss out on some of the fun -- billows of smoke, fire belching several feet out the muzzle, and the smell! This message has been edited. I have a pair of "Evil Roys", one in 357 mag and one in 45LC. Both are very nice and a lot of fun to shoot.

I have a Beretta stampede in 357 magnum that I stumbled across at a local gun shop in the used container. It is very accurate either with 38 special or full powered 357 loads. Essentially it is an Uberti as I was told as Beretta never really made their own six guns. Fit and finish including case colors are not as good as my Colt SAA though there’s quite a difference in price and pedigree so this is expected. I’d say it’s in line with the quality of my Ruger‘s, maybe a bit less beefy though more period correct as a clone, except mine is a 3 click if I remember correctly.

Uberti makes a good 1875 in my experience. Here's mine if interested. It's just about my favorite gun to shoot the past couple years. https://youtu.be/ZgZyLqd5qiQ?si=ivXoUwW46y0txgA9 --------------------------- My hovercraft is full of eels.

I have a Uberti Cattleman in .45 Colt and it’s been a solid gun. My dad bought a matching set about 15 years ago and used them for CAS for probably 7 years. He bought a pair of Colts and gave my brother and I each one of the Ubertis as a gift since he wasn’t going to use them again. I have no complaints with the gun. I’ve only shot a couple hundred rounds through it at most but my dad shot it a lot over the years he used it for competition and it’s been 100% reliable. “Everybody wants a Sig in the sheets but a Glock on the streets.” -bionic218 04-02-2014

I’ve got that one. A TC9 or something like that. Great idea. Great gun. Cheap to shoot.

My buddy had a Ruger blackhawk convertible, I think 5.5" barrel I used to shoot all of the time. 9mm was A LOT of fun to shoot in that gun and cheaper than .38 spl and .357 mag. 9mm kicked a good bit better than .38 +p, but a decent amount less than .357, was cheap, and felt great.

The Uberti's and other Italian clone guns from 20+ years ago aren't considered very good. Often prone to parts breakage, sloppy tolerances, etc. The Uberti's, Pietta's, Cimarron's of current manufacture (last 15 years certainly) are actually pretty damn nice guns. Being a Colt die hard, I always turned my nose at them. Then, about 6 years ago, I stumbled on a Uberti SAA clone in 10mm of all things, ported barrel even...really an odd gun but, I was sitting on a lot of 10mm ammo, so for a little under $500 at the time, I had myself a unique and fun shooter. Next came a Uberti in .44-40, just a standard clone and it shoots great! A pretty Cimarron Teddy Roosevelt version came home next, engraved, nickel finish and in .45Colt. I love it! For about $700, I have an engraved (machine engraving, not by hand, but it's really nice) nickeled TR copy to actually shoot and handle. In Summary, I've really grown to like them as shooters that they are intended to be. They won't lose value like some of the real deal guns would, when you get them dirty, use them and enjoy them. Then there's the black powder Uberti Colt Walker that just hit the mailbox.... for $475, I just had to see what all the fuss was about on the huge framed Colt Walkers..this copy does not disappoint! It's huge "TWSS"! Very well made gun, tight tolerances, outstanding trigger....this will be fun to shoot one of these days for sure!

I didn't know there was anything else, but then stumbled across the 9mm in the search. Appreciate the links though, if I hadn't seen the 9mm I would have bought one of those Don't weep for the stupid, or you will be crying all day

When Colt marketed reproduction BP revolvers back in the 1980s they contracted Uberti to produce them and had Uberti put Colt markings on them. I remember seeing them for sale in Shotgun News. ___________________________________________________________________________ "....imitate the action of the Tiger."
