Seems my eyes might pick up green slightly quicker.

You guys that have run both or looked through both. Do you have a preference and/or why one over the other?

I plan on doing some more classes this year on pistol optics and actually put in more time training.

For what it's worth looking at the Osight SE 6MOA. Few guys have been running them in local USPSA comps and they have been holding up really well. Same as the Holosuns / Vortex and some more expensive optics.

IMO Green is the way to go.
Much easier to pick up and easier on the eyes.

Have a Holosun 507C, if I was doing competition then the 507 Comp Green mini reflex looks interesting.

The Holosun 507COMP pistol green dot sight is here to take you to the next level of handgun competition. Designed from the ground up for slide mounting, the 507COMP features a "big window" objective lens providing an exceptionally wide field of view that makes transitioning and engaging targets a fast and effortless process. The user can select any combination of dot and/or rings to optimize their reticle for the targets they'll be facing. With 50,000 hours of battery life and a durable body designed to survive the rigors of competitive shooting, the Holosun 507COMP mini-reflex sight is the perfect addition to your handgun.

I bought green for my MOS Glock. I have an old red Tasco on my High Standard and it is ok for the range.

On the AR side, my Strikefire II does both.
I've found I like the green dot for indoor/low light & the red for outdoor.

I have both, wear glasses and have an astigmatism just for background.

I am not sure there is a big fat hairy difference between the two. I THINK I like green better. It SEEMS a bit faster to pick up and maybe a tad "cleaner" to my eye but honestly its probably all in the weeds so to speak.

What I can definitively say is I like 6 MOA sized dots. I recently tried one and I am a bit of a convert in this regard.

I have one of these and it's great.

IMO green is MUCH easier for me to see and pick up quickly. Not even really a contest, for me at least. The only red I have are Aimpoint's in CompM4 and T2 and Vortex razor. And I didn't have the option for green there.

I have a slight preference for green. Not enough for me to pay significantly more, or to compromise on features, just to avoid red.

But all things equal, I'd go with green.

The only way to know is to try both.

I read advice all over the interwebs that green is better for astigmatism than red. I've tried red & green dots from multiple brands (Holosun, Vortex, Swampfox, etc) and models and dot vs prism.

For my astigmatism, red works better.

Mine are all red, because they tend to be cheaper. Plus I like keeping things the same.

As far as performance, I don't really care. As long as it's bright enough that I can see it and it's properly zeroed, it doesn't make a bit of difference what color it is.

I prefer Red in a scope dot or fiber optic.
I find the red separates better against foliage outdoors.

I hate green fwiw. maybe if it was the only color I had it wouldn't matter but I get red on lots of stuff without the option so I prefer they are all red.

I wish one worked better for me but it doesn’t. Green, red or gold dots are all pretty equal.

I have both, along with astigmatism and see no real benefit to either. I really like the green dot but can’t say I shoot any better or that the dot is more crisp than a red dot. I’d buy another green dot if I had the choice of either at the same price but it wouldn’t be a deal breaker.
