If I recall correctly, one is competition and one is carry. Cleaned it up and reduced the pull. I posted on here when I first got them back but Im sure its been archived and locked up by now. He also did a P30 for me at the same time, night and day differnce from the stock HK DA/SAs system.

I sent my Sigs to Robert and he did an awesome job with a quick turn-around time of only 2 weeks. He's easy to deal with, well worth the money!

Last year I sent four pistols that I had bought used to Sig for the Sig Service Package, which is basically the Full Service Package with the addition of night sights. With some discounts, it was practically like getting the night sights for free. Well, nothing in life is free. When they returned, all four had basically the worst factory Sig triggers I've ever felt. They were functional, but not guns that I would have bought had I tried the trigger in the store.

With that being said, I didn't pay for action enhancement, and maybe my expectations were too high. One was so bad I sent it back to them twice, and finally gave up. Very disappointing experience and I won't be sending anything to Sig unless it's a warranty issue on a newer gun.

You lost me there. You sent the guns back to Sig for a thorough cleaning, some new springs and night sights, and was disappointed that they came back without an enhanced action/trigger? Or did Sig do something to the action during the cleaning to make it worse?

They came back with triggers that were far worse than when they left me. I really don't understand what happened. They felt like decent, used guns when they left. When they got back, they were like the worst trigger I've felt on a new gun. Not defective and not non-functional; just like they were particularly hard, tight, and needed breaking in or trigger jobs.

Hi! Did you have a question?

BTW, our shop times are under two weeks for the types of SIG work we're currently accepting.

We used to have very long lead times, and a few specific types of work orders still unavoidably take a bit more time.

Probably had to do with replacing the springs. I bought a very old and very used P226 to use as a Simunition trainer. The DA pull feels almost as light as my GGI tuned P226 with 19# hammer spring just due to all that use. If I were to shoot it with live ammo, I'd replace springs for safety but go with a lower than factory spec (24lb) hammer spring.

Because this is a thread asking about Robert Burke, Aenimated1 here, vs. factory Sig trigger work, this might be helpful.
(Note: I was formerly an owner with Robert in his business but not any longer due to some personal medical issues. I consider him a friend.)

Having spoken and emailed with Max Michel numerous times over the years, you should note that Robert does Max’s trigger work. Max told me once that it is not insignificant that Max could have anyone do his trigger work – and for free. Yet, he paid at the time for Robert to do his work. Max has won many championships while preferring Robert’s work. Max’s 320s, optics P320s and X5s sport Robert’s work. Maybe that might mean something.

Factory Sig or other trigger work is not categorically bad, just different. Robert does individualized action/trigger work depending on what a customer might want/need from street cop to home defense to competition to departmental policy restrictions. Robert does not like to down spring pistols and prefers to keep all the factory parts while tuning the whole as a unit.

To give me a sample of a variety of his work, I have had Robert do different kinds of trigger jobs for some of my pistols. He has worked on 3 X5s, 2 P320s, and the following: P226, P228, P239, P238, P938 plus shotguns like the Versa Max Competition Tactical, and FN SLP Competition. All of them were improved and made more enjoyable to shoot from my point of view. I have never had any of his work fail me in many tens of thousands of rounds.

There is something to be said for just shooting a pistol to work out its possible kinks but most times, well considered trigger work will help achieve better results for shooters in terms of texture, and for many, results.

Having said that, I still believe that better shooters could shoot some pretty crappy triggers with amazing results. I am bad enough that trigger work helps. Wink

Robert is currently working on some issues to modify what he perceives is needed for a particular recurrent Sig issue that may be announced at an appropriate point here after patents and that whole process plus conversation with Sig.

But, Robert is a trigger specialist. Yes, he has done caliber conversions, barrel replacements, trigger reach placement and has a custom 1911 project under way that will ultimately be posted on the forum, but trigger and action work is his focus.

Robert has been out of the country recently but he is back now so OP, you could contact him and Sig to see what may provide a better process/result for you. Robert has quite often done follow up work to help customers achieve more of what they may want after others took a crack at it.

Having had the opportunity to experience Robert's work as well as just spend some time talking to him, I can confirm the things said here. He has done work on a P220 MSE, P226, P227, P320, HK45C and a P239 for me. The result is solid; even my wife who is not into spending a ton of money is a believer; she loves her 226 even more now.

Robert does take the time to talk to customers and does excellent work. What he does is craftsmanship; he has the right tools and experience for the job.

I'm pretty lucky to have said resources just 30 min away.

Given that you know what you'll get and that you know he'll address any and all concerns genuinely, I think it's a no-brainer. it's just him, not a corporate shop focused on turnaround time.

Well, y'all have convinced me.

I sent an email to Mr. Burke yesterday, initial contact, couple of questions. I was impressed by his prompt reply. His response indicated to me that he had actually read and comprehended what I wrote.

The favorable impression that he created, prompted me to pack up the P245 and get it on its way to him. He will probably receive it the early part of the coming week.

Stay tuned, I'll let you know how things turn out.

Another vote for Mr. Burke - I have a E26R-9-BSS-GER that he worked on, and it's absolutely the best P226 trigger I have ever felt, hands down.

The man is indeed a master of his trade.

Proceed with the utmost in confidence.

Yet Another Question for the knowledgeable:

Per all the positive feedback in this thread, I sent the P245 off to Mr. Burke. An update from FedEx indicates that it was delivered today.

I am undecided on exactly which of Mr. Burke's services to use. Clearly, I do want the Carry Action treatment. The open question is, do I want either of the reduced reset treatments?

This question should be considered in light of what the pistol will be used for. Primarily, it will be for concealed carry (Note: I I'm still looking for a suitable OWB holster, per my WTB ad in the Classifieds. I like leather, but will consider kydex or other materials. I would prefer an extension to insulate my body from the slide, I like snap loops for attaching to the belt, but these are all negotiable).

So, we are talking about a concealed carry / maybe bedside, primary use. I do dabble in IDPA, but at 80 years old, I might or might not ever make it out of the Novice classification. I view IDPA as good practice, not as competition. Given the preceding, is it worth the $$ for me to have one of the reduced reset treatments?

Corollary question: If a reduced reset would be A Good Thing for me, which one? The SIG package, or the QRT? The QRT is more costly.

Robert should be able to guide you through all that. Talk to him and ask these same questions. I've never known of him to steer anyone wrong. Since I've never talked to Bruce Gray, I can't make any comparisons, but when Robert talks, I try my best to keep up.

I opted for the Competition job for my P220 Elite Stainless. This is a carry pistol. You can tell Robert what you want in the way of trigger pull. With the Competition job, you have the leeway of going a bit lower on the DA & SA pulls. You don't have to go all the way down to 2.25 lbs SA, he will do whatever you want. It's only $50 more, but gives you more options.
