Blume9mmHi, my name is James and i am a mag whore...
I just ordered another Glock mag and I don't even own a Glock. That's what the rifle I recently bought takes....
I got so many P239 mags.... I don't have a clue...

White PhosphorusSome people have called me a fanatic for buying 10 mags with every pistol I buy. I also go for 15 for every rifle. If it's something I really, really like to shoot, then it goes up to 20.
But hey, the firearm is useless without good mags.
Some of you put me to shame.
Shame, shame, shame.

sns3guppyI try to have at least ten magazines per firearm.
More is better. I've never found occasion to say, "I wish I had less."
I bought a bunch of magazines for firearms in my safe a few years ago. Shortly after that, the manufacturer discontinued the firearm. The magazines became scarce and the cost shot up overnight. When I bought the magazines, they were being dumped on the market for a ridiculous (great) price. I didn't need more, and wasn't carrying that model pistol at the time, but couldn't turn down the good deal. Looking back, I'm glad I bought them.
I don't hoard, but I do take advantage of a good deal, because I know things won't always be available. I'm not a magazine whore. I'm not in love with magazines. I do understand the compulsion to stock up, however. I think perhaps that it simply means one has common sense.

hrcjonanybody who seriously competes (and that means you will destroy a certain number of consumable mags) and also lived through the AWB should have learned to have a lifetime supply. I remember like it was just yesterday burned into my soul paying $150 for preban glock mags to run matches. And I swore to not have that again. At this point I can say that I have enough mags to last me the rest of my life for any gun I consider a serious defensive one. And any new gun gets that at the onset or I just don't buy it.

I'm always curious what a person thinks, from a given perspective.
How many mags do you think is reasonable for a pistol or rifle?
Thanks!

SigFanI recently bought 5 Magpul mags for G19 and 4 more Magpul mags for AR. I don't go crazy buying mags, but I do like to have several spares for my guns.
I also find myself buying extra mag carriers for no apparent reason. I bought two of the Pitbull Tactical Universal mag holders in black, and I liked them so much I bought two more in coyote tan. Not sure why I did that...

VoshterkoffFor a “serious use” firearm, I like 20 or so, though I have many more AR15 mags. I like to work towards a lifetime supply. For “fun” guns I like 5-10. I have put emphasis on buying 10+ capacity magazines.

mr kablammoI figure six per. I need more AR mags. Also I have shotgun choke tubes for gauges that I do not own.

This.
I have more magazines than I could ever possibly need. Like, started with "well ya gotta have at least double as many mags as you carry" so six for every platform.
Then I wanted those, PLUS enough to load 100 or 150 rounds for a range session, so I wouldn't have to pay to stand there thumbing rounds into magazines. On top of the carry mags.
Then I kept buying magazines.
My wife didn't quite ask me if I had a problem or something when I was loading them into boxes for the last move...but there was some judgment in that look...
