A friend owns 92F, I never was able to shoot it well. Not a problem of the pistol, it just wasn’t a good fit for me. ___________________________________________________________________________ "....imitate the action of the Tiger."

I have owned Beretta 92 series pistols of one iteration or another for nearly two decades. Right now, there is a 92X Centurion on my hip and it has been there since February and I have carried other iterations of the 92 off and on for years. I would (and do) trust my life and that of my family to one and have never given it a second thought. Laughing in the face of danger is all well and good until danger laughs back.

Don't love them, don't hate them, never owned one. They get a "Meh" response from me. I love big bore revolvers and government model 1911s. U.S. Army, Retired

Love 'em. Favorite 9mm pistol, maybe favorite pistol period... And unless you have an MP-5, it's the only gun you can really say "yippee ki yay motherfucker" with. Saying badass shit when you're in a gunfight is something people often over look. "Ninja kick the damn rabbit"

Forgot to mention I do own a Beretta bobcat in 22lr. My mom has it now as she can’t handle the recoil of a j-frame 38 anymore(arthritis). I’ve never had a hiccup with it, I gave her a box of CCI Minimags and it feeds them well. "Violence, naked force, has settled more issues in history than has any other factor.” Robert A. I’ve gone in waves. First Beretta was a 92F that I got at 18 I believe. I couldn’t shoot it for shit. I shot it a lot nonetheless. Not a great shooter, mostly me back then but the gun didn’t help. Eventually found scalloped backstraps, trigger jobs, and thin grips. Made all the world of difference. One of my favorites now. Went through a Cougar streak. Even got the elusive Inox one. Too pretty to shoot. I did shoot the Cougar L’s a bunch. One still does living room HD duty. Like most of the cats. 87 Cheetah is the best. 21a I want to love, mine isn’t as reliable as described above. Lol. 84 and 85 just because but no real love. APX because you at least got to try one. It’s good just nothing better or worse than most strikers.

Pedro I’m with you. I love my Tomcat, Jetfire, 87 Cheetah and 3 81s. Not in love with my .380s, and the old 92 is very nice gun I have not warmed up to. Will be getting a modern Centurion most likely at some point and an 86 as the tip barrel is just plain cool - I want . The esthetic/design and open barrel + Beretta history is pretty cool and a strong draw. I have more of these than Sigs, though do enjoy my sigs...need to get a 239 at some point . This is very true . Just watched that movie the other night, actually...gotta get in the Christmas spirit! I have a love/hate relationship with my 92. It was the first gun I ever bought. It's the most reliable gun I've ever owned...can't say I've ever had a malfunction with it. It's accurate, easy to shoot, and I love the long sight radius. And boy is it smooth...like greased ball bearings. Not to mention it's the sexiest handgun ever made, imo...just drop-dead gorgeous. I'm neutral about the size. The 92 gets a lot of flak for being a big gun. It's a full-size handgun...it's supposed to be big. I can shoot it just fine...carrying it is a bit tough, but I did it for several years when it was the only handgun I owned. I'd love a compact M single-stack...if Beretta ever brings those back, they'll be taking my money. I have two major complaints about the 92FS...the safety and the trigger. I don't like a safety period on a carry gun. Just can't abide them. And putting it out of easy reach on the slide makes it even worse. Sure, you can get (or convert to) a G model, but it's still not as ergonomic a design as the Sig decocker. As to the trigger...it's long, mushy, and creeps, with too much over travel. I put a D spring and an LTT enhanced trigger bar in mine...it helped some but it's still not as crisp and positive as my P-series triggers. Don't get me wrong...they're great guns, and I'll never sell mine, but they have their shortcomings. Wish I'd had the income to pick up more of them back when police trades were cheap and abundant, though.

Had one several yeas ago, it was great and I thought it was the best natural pointing gun I ever had. Big great grips. Sold it, don't know why. Missing it for several years I got a Langdon Tactical LTT 92G Elite today and am heading to the range on Tuesday. The Langdon has thinner grips that the original I had, not sure I wll be happy with them. I have very medium hands but the normal big grip on a 92 really feels good to me.

Trigger job in a bag my friend. You are dabbling around the edges when you just need to jump right on in! LTT’s VZ thin grips are the best 92 grips I’ve ever tried. Alumagrips are thin but not very grippy. The TJIAB is a pretty easy install. Langdon says the self installed kit is 90% as good as if he did it himself. I don’t know. I have his trigger job and my install of his kit. They are too close to make the call. Muy bueno.

Never owned a beretta, but have shot a few. I could not get used to the slide mounted safety, as others have mentioned.

hello darkness my old friend |
I carried a Beretta 96. It was great and an accurate pistol that I shot well. Been looking to add a Beretta to my collection.

LOVE Beretta's! I have 5 different ones now but that wasn't always the case. I stayed away from them for decades because of the long DA pull & the "switch" to single action after the first shot. ( I was reared on 1911's). A couple of years ago, I decided to force myself to become proficient with DA/SA triggers. Glad I did. It took some practice but now I'm as fast & accurate with my Beretta's as I am with my 1911's & I tend to shoot them more. As already mentioned, perhaps the most reliable & sexy auto pistol ever. All my 92's have been worked over by WC or LTT & it makes a significant difference in the triggers. Rom 13:4 If you do evil, be afraid. For he does not bear the sword in vain. I'm one of those pig-headed people who will never trust anything that hasn't been on the market for at least five or ten years. It takes that long to work the bugs out of a system. The Beretta has been around a long time and it's strengths and weaknesses are well known. It's almost a shame to waste all that work. Personally, I really like the A3. V.

Your not trying hard enough.
I have been blessed to both own and or shoot a vast array of weapons from beltfed to 20mm to high end air gun. I pride myself on being able to shoot damn near anything “passably” well. Well everything except those God damn bobcat/tomcat things. I swear if I threw one at you it would bounce off something and hit me. I don’t know what it is but of all the stuff I can shoot.....ehh passably.....those damn tiny Beretta’s don’t make the list. No idea why I have such an issue with them. Cslinger you are touching on one of my biggest annoyances with Beretta. The 21a Bobcat has soooooo much potential but Beretta refuses to tweak the gun. They are wonderful if you have one that works consistently. Many don’t. I have 2. One of the former, one of the latter. I’ve made it my mission to fix it. I have failed. It’s almost reliable under a certain strict set of procedures. If I follow a certain regimen for 49 rounds it’s almost perfectly reliable. Stray at all, in any manner, the wheels come off. As to the tweaks. Use it’s bigger brother Tomcat (lightened) slide that has useable sights. Add an extractor. These things will jam. When a case sticks, and it will, it becomes oh so much fun to clear. If it happened when you really needed a gun you would be screwed. It’s why as much as it would be perfect I never could seriously consider this a pocket gun for backup. Beretta are you listening?

My first semi-auto handgun was 92FS Inox that I purchased new about 23 years ago or so. After shooting thousands of rounds (~5K ish) through it without a hiccup, I enjoy shooting it now just as much as I did when I bought it! It is my nightstand gun with a 20 round Mecgar inserted with 1 in the chamber, and two 18 round Mecgar’s in a double-pouch right next to it. The Mecgar’s have been 100% reliable. I’m squarely in the “love ‘em” camp! Oh, and it makes a definitive and beautiful mechanical “chack-chack” sound when racking the slide, so that’s an extra added bonus! __________ "I'd rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal labotomy."

I only have one Beretta, a first year, 1992, 92fs Centurion. Does nightstand duty.

I generally like Beretta pistols. 87 Cheetah, Cougars, 92/96 are good. The Neos .22 was not one of their best efforts. "If Gun Control worked, Chicago would look like Mayberry, not Thunderdome" - Cam Edwards

When I was 20 anxiously awaiting my 21st birthday shopping for my first handgun, the two finalist were the 92 Compact and the P228. I eventually ended up with the Sig and always thought I would get a 92 Compact as well. I did buy a pre-94 ban Italian stainless full size with all stainless controls but stupidly traded it away after a number of years of ownership. Then the 92 Compacts disappeared from the market. About ten years ago when a batch of Italian compacts hit the market, I bought two. I really love them, but sadly they still sit brand new stored nicely in my climate controlled safe. I even have some Alessi (made while Lou was still alive) and Milt Sparks holsters for them as well as D springs to install and plenty of NIW magazines. I look for Stainless 92s as well as other 92 models and will eventually buy one. I just have too many guns to shoot and have somehow moved away from shooting for fun to a focused training regiment. My shooting for fun has been relegated to shooting M1 carbines and M1 Garands or precision bolt guns. A new 92 is on a very short list for purchases. _________________________ "An appeaser is one who feeds a crocodile - hoping it will eat him last” - Winston Churchil
