Is P320 Fixed
Hello,
Had some P320s. Sold them off because of the reported issues. I was a FI at a large DHS Agency and we dropped our contract as well. Retired last year and still have a P320 minus the FCU. Looking to hopefully have Sig redesign, tool or whatever they want to call it to fix the issues they've had.

Any changes made to P320 in last 6 months?

Only issues seem to be operator error, and poor holster design. If there were a design flaw, surely it would've been discovered by the at least one of the self appointed experts on YouTube by now. Roll Eyes

The P320 does however, have very little margin for user error compared other current striker fired pistols. Curious they only 'go off on their own' when safely secured in a holster.

That said, according to this video posted on page 91 of the thread linked above, SIG apparently either is or will be offering a heavier trigger for/in the P320 (I have not seen this info posted elsewhere), increasing the trigger pull by three pounds (up from 4.75# to 7.75#). The details start around the 14:00 mark, and the the video is cued up to start at that point.

Sooo, after all the hysteria, it seems SIG concluded that the best solution to this non-issue was "they can make it harder for you to fuck up". Wink

Instead of waiting for a "fix", Flux it. I finally broke down and got one and it is a game changer. It has a manual safety for the trigger, which is a nice addition.

The fix all along would have been a tabbed trigger safety. It would have even prevented the drop-safety failures that led to the don't-call-it-a-recall voluntary upgrade.

But Sig will never eat crow and admit it should have incorporated a tabbed trigger as nearly every other striker gun on the market does. The ones that don't compensate w/ other safety features, such as Kahr w/ their long DAO trigger pull.

As best as I can decipher from all the spoo on the internet, there never was a problem with discharges absent the trigger being pulled (after the drop-test upgrade years ago). Every discharge has been the trigger being pulled or the gun assembled by the user with incorrect parts.

So the risk is somehow pulling the trigger unintentionally while holstering or handling it. The holster issues seem to be one of two categories. One is the large bucket style holster to accommodate a weapons mounted light, where something gets into the holster and the trigger is pulled. The other is using either no holster or something that doesn't adequately cover the trigger area, and again something is able to snag the trigger.

One solution is to keep the chamber empty until ready to aim and fire. ie. Carry with the chamber empty.

So far I haven't seen an aftermarket tabbed trigger that is available to buy.

Agency Arms has one, but it does say that it won't work in the AXG frame. Says there's 8 left in stock.

Thanks. Ordered one. We'll see how it does. I'm not a fan of the tab, and don't believe it adds much if any safety. Not having a dingus was a reason for buying a 320 in the first place.

Fun fact: The P320 was originally going to be offered both with and without the trigger dingus. It debuted at SHOT 2014 with both options, and the early marketing literature and videos include the trigger with dingus as being an option.

But right before it hit mainstream release, the decision was made to remove the trigger dingus option, and Sig doubled down on specifically marketing the P320 as being the dingus-free alternative to all the other dingused striker fired pistols on the market.

Interesting article today on the "Swiss Made" P320.

" Swiss Ministry of Defense still opted for the P320. According to local journalists, this was because the pistol would be manufactured in Switzerland, and it was believed that the existing deficiencies could be addressed. One parliamentarian noted that the defects were discovered in weapons produced on American production lines, while pistols destined for the Swiss military would be manufactured domestically. Deliveries are expected to begin in 2028."

I don't understand this line from the article: "The slide is noted to be under-retractable, forcing the shooter to manually fire it."

It almost makes me LOL, as it implies firing without the shooter pulling the trigger would be a desirable feature!

The article makes no sense. The Sig scored 1 out of 10 and it as still picked over the Glock and HK?

There's nothing to fix. Not after the first incidents with the drop fires. In these other incidents with spontaneously going off in the holsters, I don't buy it. I do agree with the short light trigger being less forgiving of error. I moved mine to guarding my nightstand with a WML. The P365 is much easier to carry anyway.
