Recoil Spring for Sig p320 X5 Legion Login/Join

Very difficult for me to reassemble, once it is out. Can you use the aftermarket DPM Systems Recoil Assembly meant for the full size p320 with a 4.70 barrel, even though the p320 X5 Legion has a 5 inch barrel. If not, any advice on how to put the recoil spring with full length guide rod back in the Legion. I'm 79 years old and don't have a lot of strength in my hands.

Thanks,

Jay

Maybe you can get the rsa assembly from the first gen X5? IIRC it is an assembly and not a separate spring/rod.

My captured x5 assemblies both had a binding issue causing oob failures. Sig said break-in blah blah blah but both x5’s became perfect after going to the new guide rod and 1911 springs.

It would be easier to assemble but my .02, may cause function issues.

I had the same issue with my captured stock X5 guide rod. I put maybe 700-800 rounds through it before I wised up and swapped out the guide rod. Once I swapped to the GG guide rod with a 13lb spring it has been flawless for the last 3-4k rounds.

The best advice I can give you is hold the barrel end of the slide up against the wall when you are trying to put the guide rod back in. The pressure against the wall should give you extra leverage.

My guess is that X5 recoil spring you have is a 16-17lb spring.
My P320F likes a 13lb spring for 115gr range ammo.
Why not try a 13lb spring ?
Mine is easy to reassemble.
The best deal on tuner's spring kits is from Taylor Tactical.

The X5 Legion comes with a 14lb and 12lb springs.

Well, there goes that theory.
Wonder if the OP tried his 12lb spring ?

With my P320 the captured OEM RSA isn't any easier to install than the the un-captured.
In fact, the un-captured 1911 style RSA may be easier to install.

One of the advantages of the x5 L is that one may use standard 1911 springs. Get a set and try.

Buy an Armorer’s Block from the Sig Armorer aka Robert Burke. It makes installing and removing the guide rod and spring stupid easy.
