Has anyone shot a gun with the new .30 Super Carry
I thought this might be another in a long line of calibers that shows initial promise and then dies a quick death from lack or available guns limited ammo supply, etc.

With the proliferation of concealed carry weapons this new cartridge might have a chance. Way more powerful than the .380 while allowing a little more capacity than a 9mm.

I have gone through a major thinning of the heard of guns and calibers along with it so I won't be an early adopter for sure but I will be keeping my eye on it to see how it develops.

It's probably too early for anyone to have tried it unless they were at S.H.O.T. show but I was just curious if anyone has actually tried it and if you did what did you think of it.

.30 Super?

The numbers are similar to the .30 Luger. There is nothing new under the sun. Time may prove it to be a valid choice for concealed carry pistols, but a lot depends on guns chambered for it, cost of ammo and availability.

Not going to add another round into my life after over the years limiting the number cartridges in my world. That said curios as to what manufacturers sell handguns in 30 super?

I like what I read & see on this round. I think it will live or die depending on what firearms it is chambered in.

I think it's an interesting round, but I'd rather see it employed to juice up the power of smaller autos (think mouse guns), rather than trying to boost the capacity of existing 9mms. Those guns are already available with acceptable capacity, IMO...I'd rather have 10-12 rounds of 9mm in a P365 than 15 rounds of hot-loaded .32.

But a harder-hitting, deeper-penetrating round in something tiny like an LCP or a Keltec P32-sized package has merit. It's like a shorter, rimless .32 magnum for semi-autos.

Commercially, though, they're probably pushing for the former market, as it'll likely drive more sales volume...if they can get ammo and guns on the shelf that are chambered in it. The way things are right now, I don't see it taking off...it's hard enough to find affordable 9mm as it is.

Well, I have a bunch of 357 mag guns, & reload, so I think I’m covered.

How common is that 32 magnum? Whatever happened to that 25 WSSM?

There are some videos on YouTube showing the Shield pistol shooting the round. Just search for them

I guess I could find 30 Super-Duper if I looked hard enough. But I don't care enough to do so.

If this round is going to make it. It is going to have to be ubiquitous.

It needs to be readily available everywhere and for a decent price.

It needs to be available in bulk.

I am having trouble seeing how Federal is going to be able to make that happen in the current environment.

So no one's actually had a chance to shoot one yet?

I might be interested in 30SC if they could get it to work in something like a Ruger LCP variant, but I don't think it's feasible. A 30SC cartridge is slightly longer than 9mm and has significantly higher chamber pressure. I believe both factors work against operating it in a mouse gun.

The first mass production guns chambered in the .30 Super Carry round, the S&W Shield EZ and Shield Plus, haven't been released yet.

Some members of the press had the chance to shoot them at the SHOT Show range day, but they haven't actually hit the market.

Good points...and also two more reasons why this cartridge won't likely be a success. I'd bet they'd have made some money off the initial hype at least if there had been guns and ammo available to buy when it was announced...but there weren't.

I wonder if Sig will sell a conversion kit for the P320 for this cartridge.

^^ You'd think that would be relatively easy if they decided to do it, and it would be nice to have a breachface and extractor that were designed and built for the specific cartridge. I don't necessarily need one of these with a double-column mag, but hey, a 320F chambered for the .30SC might be a lot of fun.

Wake me up in three years, and let me know if this round still exists.

Well Federal can at least use the factory floor space they set aside for their previous wannabe cartridge, .224 Valkyrie. OTOH, they would be rock stars if they just used those resources for simple calibers...like 30-30, 30-06, 270WIN, 300WIN, 12GA #2 steel, etc...you know, those calibers they've continued to consistently underserve for the past two years running.

Hmmm interesting quandary. Invest in this round or the newest crypto currency? Tough choice. Hard to decide which would lose my money faster. Lol

Hard to believe this is a real discussion. 40, 357 Sig, 5.7, they all could use some love but anybody thinks the 30 Super Carry is going anywhere?
