Has anyone been following this pistol at all?

I have one inbound within a couple of weeks. It is literally one of the finest pistols I have ever handled and from what I’ve read, testers have been getting sub 1” groups at 50 meters with it overseas. They debuted in 2023, but were just approved for import by the ATF a couple months ago. The importer brought in five of them initially due to high cost, but has plans to bring in more once these sell.

M-Arms is a Slovenia company. The Kratos was developed in partnership with Phoenix of Switzerland. Phoenix currently builds the finest CZ clones in the world, so they’re definitely a good partner.

The Kratos itself is not based on the CZ design. It’s based loosely on the 1911, but has some very significant improvements and alterations, so it feels like nothing of the sort when compared to a high end 1911.

All parts are fully machined from the best tool steel. No MIM and nothing cast whatsoever. The link below explains the gun and lists its specs. It weighs 48oz unloaded, but I love heavy pistols.

I am extremely impressed with M-Arms. They have a double stack called the Aion that is with the ATF right now. It’s hard to know when it will be approved, but it generally takes a few months to a year. I plan on getting an Aion as well.

Like many of the pistols you post, I've never heard of this at all. I can't wait for you to get one and post sexy pics of it.

I will. Hoping sometime in March, I’ll have had it, taken pictures, and also have had a chance to get it to the range. Unfortunately I live in a populated suburban area and can’t just go outside and blast off a few rounds.

I plan on shooting a few matches with it too down the road.

Yes, unfortunately. The Aion will actually be even a little more, from what I understand.

I will say that the Kratos compares very favorably to others in its price range. Obviously I haven’t shot one yet, but I’m expecting it to be one of my best performers. So if there’s such thing as good value in this price range, the Kratos has it. Vault like tight, yet glass smooth, with otherworldly precision and attention to detail. Trigger feels under 2lbs.

The videos of the Kratos and Aion are fascinating in my opinion.

A Trump 25% tariff could make it downright pricey.

I’d be all over one, but I detest squared-off trigger guards.

Some of the early coverage said that if, in spite of quality materials, design, and assembly, you should manage to wear it out, just order the necessary parts and bung them in. No file fitting required. Take that, Mr Cabot.

Yes, it’s a perfectly engineered handgun, Jim. It’s literally one of the finest handguns I ever had in my hands. I never thought I’d say that about a gun from Slovenia, but I’ll give credit where it’s due. I mean maybe an Infinity or some of the Swiss Phoenix are comparable, but I’ll have to wait until I have the gun home and also shoot it to tell for sure. However, I’m thinking there’s really not much out there on this level. Possibly there’s some older Korths, Swiss Sigs, etc, that may offer this level of quality, but I know for a fact they don’t perform remotely close to this. That’s without even shooting it yet.

The Kratos is a tour de force. I’m thinking the Aion, with its extra weight will be even better.

Thanks. Actually, jokes aside, I don’t like them on 1911’s either. I think this gun looks nice with the square trigger guard, being it’s so different.

I also like a square trigger guard on a 2011.

Original 2011 square guard and real 1911 round guard are factory standard configurations, not involving gunsmith intervention and invoice.

I don't know how or where you find these guns but please keep them coming. Very nice looking guns.

I think I first saw this when it was introduced at IWA a couple years ago.

My Kratos is in hand and it’s quite possibly the finest pistol I’ve ever handled.

Interesting take on the 1911. I kind of like the look but those controls for the slide stop, thumb safety and even the mag catch are a bit "out there".

Yeah, I don't get the safety and slide catch. They appear to make the slide's rear serrations almost unusable, unless one doesn't mind mashing fingers/thumb against them on occasion. I'd lose mag after mag unintentionally with that release. Curious if the oversized magwell can be replaced with a more conservative one.
Other than that Brian, it's a beautiful handgun.

Yeah it’s not really a 1911, so to me it’s not “out there” at all. It’s the style of the gun. It’s not meant to look like a 1911. There are a lot of differences.

Thanks. It’s definitely unique. I don’t find the rear serrations hard to grab. The mag release has to be purposefully pressed to eject the magazine, so I doubt you would encounter a problem.

Quality is as good as any handgun in my collection.
