After utilizing my Glock 43 for years, in the role of a small carry gun, I finally broke down and hopped on the P365 bandwagon. I saw a deal posted for $499 at Sportsman’s Warehouse, thrilled by seeing a regular price on something I’ve been keeping my eye on, I ordered it.

My P365 with XL grip module & 12rd flush mag

I picked it up 3 weeks ago and couldn’t be happier. Date on the case is 11/03/2020. I’ve wanted a P365 since they were released, but decided to wait until a couple of years went by and they had a solid track record.

I’ve got 500+ rounds through it without a single hiccup. It’s run through 147gr Federal HST, 147gr Federal American Eagle, 124gr Aguila, 115gr Federal, and about 300 rounds of Winchester USA steel.

My P365 with XL grip module & 12rd flush mag

I ordered an XL frame from Osage County Guns for $45 as well as a 12rd mag & 15rd mag.

XL grip module

Here are a couple of photos showing how the P365 stacks up to my Glock 43

That looks very good with the XL grip module on it. Nice and balanced.

Thanks!

I’d have to say it feels even more balanced than it looks. I really enjoy shooting it with the standard frame and flush 10rd mag, but I love the P365 with the XL grip module. The grip texture is more aggressive and I personally like the slightly flared mag well and beaver tail as well.

I initially purchased it as a fun modular add on, with no intent for it to become a full time frame. That has since changed! Fantastic that it only takes about 60 seconds to swap frames as well, I certainly enjoy the ability to switch it up.

Very nice! Great write up and pics. I really like the 365 on XL frame. I may have to sell my G48 and do that as I never carry it. I always carry my 43X.

Thank you for sharing.

I am curious as to why you feel the need to tell him what he should have done after he's already purchased a gun and mentioned how happy he is with it? What do you feel you contributed to him or the post by that?

I never liked the 43 but it filled a role as a daily carry. After getting the 365 I hate the 43. What kind of black magic did Sig do to get double the rounds in a smaller footprint with a larger grip!!

Essentially, it's the Magazine design, which is a 1.5 stack configuration, and pretty much a groundbreaking 'new' concept! Wink

I've owned a G43 and G43X and I'm of the opinion that the P365 is a superior platform. I shoot the P365 series guns better, and find it more comfortable to shoot.

Obviously you like the P365 better and that's great. But point in fact, that doesn't make it "superior" to a Glock.

^^^It doesn't make it inferior either...

'sigarms229' is certainly entitled to his opinion here. He indicates, based on experience with both G43/G43X and the P365, that he's 'of the opinion' that the P365 is a superior platform. Assuming no reliability issues, if he shoots it better and it's more comfortable to shoot, it definitely IS a superior platform for him.

I share his opinion. Wink

The fact that the P365 stuffs four more rounds into a slightly smaller gun is a good argument that the P365 is superior.

Looks nice!

I really want to get an XL slide assembly and make mine a 365LongSlide.

Knowing what one is talking about is widely admired but not strictly required here.

Although sometimes distracting, there is often a certain entertainment value to this easy standard.

^^^The XL conversion kit is $499.99, and the XL slide is $299.99 all by itself....You should probably just buy the whole gun! Wink

Cntrl123,
Thank you for posting those excellent pix, and even more for raising this 43 vs 365 topic.
I've been thinking of posting a poll on this question, but don't know where I stand.
Unlike several posters who are firmly in a 43 (and/or 43X or 48) camp or a 365 (and/or 365 XL or variant) camp, I go back and forth.
I do know that a 43 or 365 (or one of their variants) is what I shoot most at the range, and what I carry. But what is crazy is that I go back and forth between a 43 and a 365 (often with 12 round mags to simulate a 365XL frame). I cannot settle on one vs the other (which is not good from an EDC standpoint).
I have little gurly hands. How do you guys with big hands find the 365 so comfortable? Probably the 365 IS the "superior" platform in terms of accuracy and obviously capacity. I do shoot the 365 better, certainly in slow off hand fire, probably but not definitely in rapid point shooting. Yet the 43 FEELS so much better to me in the hand. Unless I have the 12 round magazine, the Sig feels just too small. The Sig with the 10 round flat magazine feels too small in the hand, while the 43 with the flat magazine feels more grippable. I think it is because of the grip angle of the 43 vs the more straight up and down grip of the 365?
Does anyone else have that sense that the Sig is really the better choice, yet is still drawn to the Glock?
Scott
