I work next to a local mom & pop gun shop and swing in from time to time to check out the used gun case. The employees all know my name and that I am an HUGE Sig Sauer enthusiast so when something neat comes in they walk next door and let me know about their recent arrival. Yesterday they tell me to come check out a 45 Sig they just got in so I went over and to my surprise there was a minty Sig P227 with frame rails that look so clean I wondered if gun had even been fired! I cannot wait to shoot this baby! I got the pistol with two mags (no box) for $650, not a steal but not a bad price either I don’t think. I don’t know much about these pistols. They are apparently no longer being made. I’d like to get a few more mags and maybe find a few of the 14rd mags if possible. I’ll post up a range report soon. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The price of liberty and even of common humanity is eternal vigilance

Looks great. Hope it shoots as good as it looks. No, Google is not my friend.

Great gun but the 14rd mags are not reliable. I know 2 people that have the gun and they both had issues with them. If you like it after you fire it try to find some mags right away as they will only go up in price. One of my friends is a retired PA State Police Captain. He was never a Sig guy but I asked him how qualifications went with the new Sig 227 and he said it was first time he ever shot a perfect score and yeah, he really liked it. PSP doesn't carry the 227 anymore they switched to the Walther PDP. Sometimes, you gotta roll the hard six

Newer 14-rounders (in the now-familiar SIG box) are consistently reliable in my experience. Stay away from the earlier ones sold in just a plastic wrap.

It’s a very cool gun that came out at the wrong time (way too late for the double-stack .45 game and a little too early for the comeback of 10mm). The implication in that second note is that the P227 would still be alive today if SIG had made a (steel frame) version of it in 10mm, but the entire model was discontinued before that would have made good business sense. Congrats on a nice SIG!

Tragically, the P-227 was 25 years too late. The era of the double/single action automatic pistol has passed us by for law-enforcement sales and government law-enforcement.

Great guns, just like any other DA/SA P-series...IF you have a use for a full-size double-stack .45 that only holds 10 rounds flush. Ultimately I decided that I didn't, but YMMV. I agree with MacGyver...if they had offered a 10mm version they likely would have sold a lot more of them. ----------------------------------------------------------- Any comments made by this poster are my own and do not reflect the views or opinions of my employer.

Great find, stickman! Politicians seem to have forgotten that they work for us, not the other way around. — — — — — — — — — — — — God bless America.

They should never have abandoned the P227, err… I mean the P221 in 2001. Q

Have one. Have yet to fire it, so no opinion on functionality. I will agree with the opinions expressed so far, it was probably a little late to the party for commercial success. I believe Osage and the CD place in Texas both had magazines in the not too distant past. Had G10 grips at one time as well. A Perpetual Disappointment...

I agree. They should have put that one into production and they should have given the 40/357 P226 a real magazine and called that the P227. But the AWB killed all of that.

Nice pick up! Seems like several of us have picked up .45 caliber P series at good prices lately. If you like anything other than 9mm, it appears the prices are better. Regards, Waco Learning from my mistakes since 1974...
