Something not mentioned in the video is this sight has 2 footprints: The Fullsize which is the Sig/DPP and the Compact is the RMSc footprint for subcompact guns. MSRP is $460 and $410 respectively. I think Sig is finally getting things right on optics and no parts come from China so they're eligible for more military contracts.

Like on the Holosun thread, they source circuit boards and emmiters from South Korea and assemble them in the US. While you can get away from China, I don't think you can escape Asia for certain electronic parts.

I like it. I like it a lot.

Low deck height so no more supressor sights, and it looks like it even has a built-in night sight which even has serrations on the back to reduce glare, which is a nice touch. Also looks like it will fit into the cuts on the guns that still have a rear dovetail, too, and isn't just limited to the ones where the rear sight is part of the plate like the M17. I also like that there's a "fence" to protect the buttons from inadvertent contact.

Looking forward to trying one. While I'm not a huge fan of being tied to the DPP footprint, I think it makes sense for Sig to stick with it. This will be an easy upgrade for those who want to go from a Romeo1 to a closed emitter. Price isn't too horrible, either. They put some thought into to this one.

I like everything about it.

Once it gets a bit more real-world use, and as long as it's compatible with existing optic-ready holsters, I'll almost certainly get one.

This Romeo X looks pretty darn nice. The pistol optics market is improving so fast. This is the first pistol optic that may tempt me try one out.

I don't like that it's open emitter and the housing is so deep. That's going to collect shit and be hard to clean. I agree that they are making progress. I think the Romeo M17 is a good looking product and hope they put out an enclosed option compatible with the normal 320.

We're anxious to get our hands on one to try as a duty optic. Glock's partnership with Holosun to make an optic that fits right in the MOS cut out and doesn't require suppressor height sights has sold them a lot of guns. I'm hoping this is Sig's take on it.

What, me worry?

I didn't catch that the first time through (couldn't watch the video, just looked on Sigs site), but you are absolutely correct. The design makes it look like a closed emitter optic, but it's actually not. Why would they do that?

There is no such partnership. Holosun is producing direct mount optics for many factory optic cuts (Glock MOS, S&W M&P CORE, Walther PDP, HK VP9, and imminently the P320/DPP). In fact, even with the Holosun "K" optics on the market and very popular, Glock released the 43X MOS and 48 MOS with an optic cut that is not directly with those optics without a plate or modification.

This is a nice optic...I'm looking forward to getting my hands on one in the wild. I also love the M17 optic coming out. Sig does show it's coming out with much better quality optics...sadly the price on some are pretty steep. I hope they come down a little.

I've got a feeling one is coming at a lower price without it being submersible to 35 meters and such. Also, I could be wrong but does the RomeoM17 also have tritium rear sights as well?

Pretty sure that they've already been shipping the SCS 320 to authorized dealers. A lot of place online are currently out, but I did find a couple of places a couple of weeks ago that claim to have them at the time in stock. Even though the SCS is thoroughly made in the PRC, the P320 version of the SCS is enclosed, unlike the exposed emitter SCS examples that were designed for other gun models. It's great that SIG is also flattening and lowering the height of the base deck of its own direct-mount RDS now as well. It's never bad to have options. And while I'm at it, it's really nice that Chinese factories have been left out of the production process this time around...except maybe perhaps the cardboard box it came in and possibly some of the paper stuff (user's guide, warranty info, etc.) that's also included in the kit.

I have one of the Glock SCS units and so far it's been a revelation to use thanks to its low deck and fitted directly to the slide of my G17 Gen5 MOS, no adapter plate needed. That pistol comes up just like any other Glock with only irons onboard. Exactly what I hated about my RMR-equipped MOS guns that require adapter mounting plates and the unavoidable raised elevation of the optic above the slide as a result. Three plus decades of shooting Glocks in an ingrained, specific manner and that has been a hard thing (for me) to readjust for.

I thought I had seen a post that they were shipping them, but I had not seen them in the wild yet.

I thought I was going to see him driving a nail by shooting it from a distance and then I had to go back in the video and realized he was actually using the sight on a slide to pound that nail in the board.

Glad to hear they are more American made. I just wish I could land one of the great deals Sig has on their refurbished/reconditioned sights for half off or more when I get the email. They go quick.

I want a Romeo M17 in black that fits the commercial models. That's because I am partial to the M17 Bravo from a few years back.

I'm fairly sure Sig will make one for the commercial M17/M18 bolt pattern but it's less likely it will be offered in black.

But then what about the Romeo 2? It's more expensive, bigger, has the option of being closed, but still needs suppressor height sights. Romeo 1 Pro is about to die.

With the RomeoM17, can anyone verify that it has tritium night sights built into the rear sight portion of the optic? I can't find any documentation to support it, but that's what it looks like to me. That's about the only piece of price savings I can see happening thanks to the Trijicon RCR being waterproof to 35 feet.

Romeo 1 Pro needed to die a long time ago. Great glass, but the battery cap seems to require retorquing to make sure it stays down (at least in my case), but super fragile even with the shroud. Romeo 2 probably will stick around, but they never seemed to be made in large quantities anyway. The emitter on the X and M17 also seem to be improvements as the circle dot on the Romeo 2 is something like $150 extra.
