I think I know the answer already ("Get it! Don't wait!") but I thought I'd ask for input.

I absolutely love my old, heavy, 6" GP100, and this new blued SP101 ( Ruger #15702) has caught my attention. Anyone dealt with one yet?

God bless America.

They did a good job with the blue. I’ve handled one and like the chamfered cylinder, narrower at the front end supposedly to make it easier to holster. Checkered hammer is a nice touch although I prefer and own a hammerless DAO Variant myself. The SP101 is one tough gun

Looks like you can change the front sight to something you can see when you turn 50, which is good.

I love my stainless DAO SP-101 and my Talo Edition Black SP-101 (standard). One of them is often my choice of carry guns for grocery store runs; school pick-up; etc.

Like my SP 101,changed the springs with Wolff ones, easier DA now. This one is different, bought it new, it has a golden trigger.

You might want to consider the .327 Federal Magnum version - 6 rounds in the cylinder and you can shoot everything from .32 ACP, .32 S&W Long, .32 H&R Magnum and the .327 Federal Magnum.

Great gun to introduce new shooters to. Goes well with the LCR in the same caliber.

Is that a big job to do? Can I do that myself?

I do like the versatility of that one. I haven't heard much about .327 Federal Magnum lately. Is it fairly uncommon, or is it that I just don't hear much about it?

I'd also be tempted to pick it up in 9mm, keeping some ammo commonality with my P938.

I really like the blue SP101, and I'd have one, or will have one when they offer it in a 3" version.

The 327 version, also, doesn't come in blue.

I think part of my attraction to this one is that it's blued. Cool

I have quite a few handguns, including the SP101 and GP100.

The GP100 has a 4” barrel and is a great, all around handgun, but not for every day carry.

The SP101 has a short barrel and makes for a great EDC. I put a set of Hogue grips on mine and found no reason to change an6 springs.

It’s not my EDC, but I do carry it when th3 mood suits me.

My SP101 is my favorite revolver, in part because it has some sentimental value. I got it from a friend who's no longer with us.

The SP101, like most any other Ruger, is a tank. Some suggest this robustness isn't important, and they may be right, and some complain about the extra weight. The weight can become an issue for carrying, but the SP101 is small enough that I carried it for a long time and didn't think twice about it. It went everywhere with me for years. The weight does aid in making the revolver a bit more manageable when shooting, which is a benefit.

I have the 3" barrel, which to me is a more practical compromise, given that the the .357 loses a lot with a shorter barrel. The 4" SP101 has been on my to-buy list since it came out, but I still haven't picked one up. For carry, the 3" makes the most sense to me.

Factory trigger...not great. It can be improved.

The factory grip on the SP101 and the GP100 does an excellent job of making the revolvers more comfortable to shoot. The SP101 with .38+P feels like a .22. With .357 magnum ammunition it's considerably more comfortable than others.

I quite like the SP101.

The Wolff mainspring swap is fairly simple. Less than ten minutes. There is a you tube video on the procedure. I also prefer the hogue monogrip, a Nice upgrade over the stock grip and ergo’s are superb! Btw, the SP101 shoots like a bigger gun, benefit of its weight. I am always pleased with the accuracy results I score even when using magnum loads. Much easier to master than a J-frame. Although it’s only 5 rounds, I’ve never felt outgunned when carrying it Smile

I had a 3" model. I almost never carried it because it was almost as heavy as my 3" GP100!

Now I have the LCRx that is a fraction of the weight.

I'm seriously considering the 327 version. There's a 4 inch in the shop where I work. It seems delightful in proportion, although I would prefer a 3 inch. The 327 will shoot the Federal magnum, the H&R magnum, and the 32 long round. My current concern is the cost of ammo and lack of availability of reloading dies. If I could load for it, it would already be mine. I may have to step out on faith.

I had a pair of the 2 inches years ago when Wally World down here stopped selling handguns, one with a bobbed hammer. The sports manager sold them to me on a "two for one" price to get rid of his last two handguns. Both eventually went to family members.

Fredward...the .32 H&R magnum/long is somewhat popular in Cowboy Action with younger and lady shooters with Ruger introducing the Single Six in that caliber...the load seems to be very pleasent to shoot...
Dillon, LEE, Lyman and others have carbide dies...
Starline has new .32 brass...
Bullets...that I'm not sure of as far as selection goes...SASS shooters use cast or coated bullets (mostly 90ish grain hard cast from one of our local shooters)...but I'm sure jacketed self defence bullets are readly available...
