Congratulations on a great addition to the Family

I still get the impulse even though I do not need another 357SIG and I love l buying broken ones at good discounts

I have always liked the P229/357 no rail combination, the pistol has Great lines.

The 229 is a great platform for the cartridge. I was working out in Dallas County when Texas started evaluating the cartridge. So I have had early experience with the cartridge. I think it was 1994 or 1995 when I got my first 357SIG firearm.

I currently own several P229s....all in 357SIG. I never warmed up to the 40 S&W

There were several SIGs of the Month that appeared in that early era, a satin nickel P229 came out but it was chambered in 40.

I really liked the satin nickel look. This is the only pistol that i bought a conversion barrel for because it was not offered in 357SIG. I hate being forced to buy a 40 gun only to put the barrel in the box and spend more money for the barrel I really want.

Then the Equinox came out I thought it was a sexy package. But it brought a rail to the frame. I bought one anyway. Then I came across a no rail example and am very pleased

When I started carrying it, I put both night sights and the Laser-Max internal laser into the firearm. This also makes it a great pistol for the teaching inventory

And if you want a super tweaked version, there is the P229 SPORT

These are amazingly well fitted by the now extinct Master Shop in Germany. Accuracy and reliability are over the top. And just like the P226 SPORT and the P220 SPORT, there was also a SPORT Stock version

Though the P229 SPORT Stock is not seen vey often it is out there

All of the SPORT and SPORT Stock pistols have stainless frames inplace of the more common alloy SIG frame.

The P224 is a nice gun but it hit the market at the wrong time and did not stay in the market very long. Having a BUG that takes the same magazines as your duty sidearm is a nice option

I tend to buy 357SIG firearms whenever I come across them, so I also have examples from Smith & Wesson and HK including some fairly rare and/or unusual variants

Hammer showed up in the mail today, I got it all back together. Works great! I reassembled using my mix of Lucas Red 'n Tacky and Royal Purple 10W30, and it's slicker'n shit. I'm well-pleased. I need to order a set of grip screws and dig through my bin of gun parts for the old P229 grips and magazines that survived me selling off my last P229, and I'll be in good shape. Need to source some .357 SIG ammo and get to the range. Big Grin

SG Ammo is selling practice stuff (Privi) for $.54/rnd and Speer Gold Dot for $.60 - $.80/rnd.

Two kinds of Gold Dot, #54234 is marginally more powerful than #53918, but #53918 is rated by Speer for 1-3/4" groups at 75ft by the factory, #54234 is rated at 3".
