Decided to try my luck in the Production division after more than a year away. This division now does 15+1 capacity while still scoring Minor. Brought out my classic West German 226s. Didn't do well, which is no surprise with minimal to no practice. But my God, was it fun. And the West German 226 runs like a clock, even with my reloads.

That sounds pretty cool. What kind of guns were you up against?

That's awesome. My German P226 is my primary IDPA/USPA production type gun. Love it.

I shot against bone stock Glocks all the way to the $6000 Open guns with the 27 round magazines, compensators, optics and all of the bells.

During my last few years of actively participating in USPSA, I shot the P226 stainless elite in the production division. It ran flawlessly. I hope to get back into shooting soon, but macular degeneration may steer me into one of the optics divisions.

Keep at it. I was encouraged to take a look at some articles in the old Sigarms Velocity magazine from 20 years ago. More than a few articles about the P226 in competition, by Duane Thomas, and one in particular regarding David Ohlasso winning the New Hampshire State IDPA championship, as well as achieving Grand Master in USPSA in Production using a Sig Sauer P226. Wish I could link the magazine articles. Still the P226 is a solid piece of equipment. You're definitely not undermanned.

Open guns are a lot of fun, but they'll also hide a lot of flaws at a club level. Just remember that they aren't your competition and enjoy your time!

I shot a P226 a lot in IDPA. I have to say that I like shooting a 92G a little better.

Now, I just shoot my duty gun and call it a day.

I used to shoot my SIGs when I competed in IDPA. One thing I noticed, I was the only one at a match shooting a SIG. I did ok, but never came close to winning. (Most of that was my fault, LOL.)

I'm going to shoot one of my 228s with MecGar 15 round magazines next month. Just because I don't get enough trigger time with any of my guns, let alone my 228s.

I started with the P226 and picked up a CZ Shadow, and never went back. P226 is a fine weapon.
With that said, I still shoot my P226's and have one along to protect my life (357SIG).
