Has anyone field stripped their P320 Spectre Comp and put the main spring in with the oval shape horizontal instead of vertical? I did and the pistol will not lock back AND I can not get the slide release lever to move?? Very odd as the gun went back together just like my other 2 P320s (very easy without any resistance)... The gun will cycle and the trigger will snap as it would if it was being fired. It just will not lock back with or without the magazine (in other words I could not lock the slide back) I called Sig and a Mr. Smith was basically saying I did this and should have read the manual... Funny as the guns are shipped without a manual !! AND in my opinion it shouldnt have gone back together easily and without any indication.. I guess I am an old manufacturing guy and think things should be Poka-yoked.. Damn shame but I had to send the gun back to Sig for repair and I only had it for a few hours and decided to field strip it to clean the factory grease off of this new UNFIRED weapon.... If this happened to me I would imagine it will be happening to others !!

The recoil spring assembly has to be installed correctly, with the oval shape end in a vertical position, for the gun to work as it's intended. If you have the recoil spring assembly with a rounded end, it's not an issue here. Good luck.

Edit: Direct quote from the Sig's Armorer's Manual for Sig P320 Pistol, Top of Page 36:

"When installing the Compact and Sub-
Compact recoil spring assembly, you must
position the end of the spring guide with the
two flat edges as shown in the image. The
flats should be vertical. This recoil spring
assembly is serviced as a single unit and is
not to be disassembled."

OR, you can find this information on page 67 of the Operator's Manual. You can view the manual on the SigSauer's official web site.
