Help me pick a new HD gun for my bedside quick access safe. Will sport a x300. I know all of these guns will serve the necessary duty more looking for feedback on which one have the nuances you enjoy most:
1) P226 ALloy stainless elite. The all stainless elites have dried up but there are some good $900 deals going around these
2) P226 Legion
3) Wilson combat beretta (regular or centurion)
4) Langdon Tactical beretta (regulator or centurion)

Thanks and happy Memorial Day

Beretta Centurion. Either Wilson or Langdon.

Either of the Beretta models, and the 226 ASE would be my choice, as I am not a fan of the “Legion” marketing(nor am I sophisticated enough to appreciate the changes!)
I have a Beretta Brigadier that I added the Langdon Trigger Job in a Bag(TJIB) and it is very nice. The Wilson is, well, a Wilson Combat, so no more need be said.
Experimenting with my 226, I have found that with E2 grips and a short Trigger, it really fits my hand well, and now resides with an RX slide with Romeo 1 and 18+1 rounds of Winchester 127 gr +P+ as my house gun.
All of your choices, even the Legion, would be more than adequate, just depending on what fits you best. If you go with the 226, seriously think about sending it to Robert Burke for the Carry Trigger job. It will easily match either Wilson or Langdon Beretta for smoothness of Trigger action.

P226 Legion

I like my Beretta 92's and S&W 3rd gens, but for defensive use I don't care for the slide mounted decocker.

I have owned all the guns you mentioned save the Legion. They are all fantastic guns, BUT, they are very expensive. I currently have a Beretta 92X Centurion for home defense. It is as functional as the others, but costs about half what the Wilson costs. If I have to shoot someone, that's the one the police will seize in evidence. In KY the judge gets to dispose of the weapon seized and can give it to the requesting officer, and they often do. Any charge will do, such as discharging a firearm inside the city limits.

Are you saying that in the event of your using your firearm in the act of a lawful self defense, your firearm will never be returned to you?

I was an early-adopter of the Legion; I have about 40,000 rounds now through one (P226). It was my EDC and IDPA gun.

With that being said, I'd go with the Wilson Brigadier. I have one of those too. It has the best DA trigger pull I've ever felt on a semi-auto.

Get a 92X G model and add the Langdon TJIB. Change out the front sight for night sights and your good to go. I have a centurion and compact which compare to my Langdon compact and full-size.

If you go with the 92s, I'd recomend the G model, decocker only, so that it's similar to the SIGs I presume you already shoot.

I've found that the M92 trigger is a little nicer than a stock SIG trigger, it has a shorter reset and a slightly smoother pull. However, putting a GG Short reset trigger kit and 19LB main spring can greatly improve the SIG trigger. If the legion adds are to be believed the Legion triggers should be better then the stock SIG triggers.

I found the standard Beretta grips a little wide for my tastes, but a pair if VZs makes it very nice. The SIG grips fit fine.

Mechanically, I've seen more issues with M9s than I've seen with SIGs, but I rarely see SIGs there were as abused and poorly maintained as military M9s. Most of the M9 issues I saw could be traced to magazines. So use known good magazines with your pistol. Also rememebr that the Berettas you are looking at are going to have OEM or better parts. The M9s allegedly get parts from mulitple vendors including an older generation of locking block.

Are you able to shoot any of the perspective new pistols before purchase?

What is your current pistol? Which of the perspective new pistols is similar?

One imagines that, based upon the jurisdiction and specifics of the incident, it might be a very long time. I can't imagine "never," but you never know.

I have no recommendation for the OP, as my choice would have been "none of the above," and he didn't present that as an option Smile

When I decided I wanted a dedicated HD handgun the criteria were full-size, able to mount a light, brain-dead-simple MOA, and an effective caliber less likely to penetrate barriers such as walls and doors. Thus I went with a full-size striker-fired pistol in .45 ACP.

Here you'd likely get it back...eventually. It's evidence until the conclusion of the investigation into both the shooting itself and the criminal offense leading up to the shooting. If either of those events leads to a prosecution, the weapon would be held until the completion of the criminal case. We are advised that if we get into an off duty shooting any weapon, personally owned or not, used in the shooting will be seized and likely not returned. I look at it as an insurance policy that has paid for itself. I'll buy a replacement if needed.

Of the options posted, none of them jumps out as significantly better or worse than the others. I've become a big fan of the 92fs over the last few years. I had a Brig Tac and ended up trading it away. I still have a 92fs with the Langdon Trigger Job in a Bag installed that is one of my favorite pistols. I prefer the slimmer standard slide to the heavy Brigadier slide.

Wow we gun folks really have a hard time sticking to parameters. Smile

All the guns listed are perfectly adequate. All are in the same’ish price range.

The difference between a 92x and an LTT is what maybe 150-250 bucks. It’s not a 4,000 dollar Wilson Supergrade Smile

As has been said any would be perfect. I like my Wilson and my Berettas in general more then my 226 so I went that route.

Chris

There were and are deals on the 92X. Both mine were around $500. The Vertec grip is a big selling point for me as well.

In Kentucky, I would likely not get the gun back, correct. I’d be charged with discharging a firearm within city limits, and lose the gun. And pay a fine.
