Thank you times 1MM! ^^^^^

That helps a lot. I’m picking up a P6 in a week and I’m sure it’s old school. I would like it to shoot HPs along with its brother P225.

This is too much of a request to ask of you but I’m gonna ask anyway. If you don’t know, that’s fine. (I suppose I can measure all these things myself when the gun finally FFLs.)

Does it appear that the radius on the P225 feed ramp is larger than the radius on the P6? The photo hints at it a wee bit.

Thank you for pointing out the chamfer on the hood.

Think the worst part is you can see that the P225 is a steeper angle feed ramp.

Years ago, I sent my P6 barrel of to someone who made a very inexpensive modification. Numerous people on this forum were using this person. Maybe someone will remember who it was.

Sent two p-6 barrels to the same place. Worked fine afterwards.

If I remember correctly, the company name is Gerry Ritacco (spelling?) Total Automation. It was many years ago and I have since lost the address.

Not 100% sure which dimension you are asking about, nor am I sure that I have the proper equpiment to take an accurate measurement, but I'll give it a go.

Using my reloading dial-calipers, and eyeballing it the best that I can, the rasiused part of the feed ramp is 0.302" wide on the P6, and 0.280 wide on the P225.

Using the same calipers, and placing the square base against the side lips of the feed ramp and extending the plunger down until it touches the center of the feed ramp (it's a squared off tool hitting a radiused part, so it's definitely not going to be an exact measurement), the P6 feed ramp is 0.038" deep, and the P225 ramp is 0.041" deep.

I also realized that there was an angle I forgot to photograph the first time around...the bottom of the ramp. The radius on the P225 barrel is actually cut deep enough that it extends all the way through...you can see the little crescent area relieved at the base. On the P6, it's a shallower cut that doesn't extend all the way through (hence the lip that flat-faced bullets like to hang up on).

Carbon Powerball was designed for those guns that were built for hardball. Bit expensive but an option. That and Federal 115 BP load seem to fit the bill for those older platforms.

Thank you again very helpful… I’m trying to evaluate if I can make this modification myself.

Once the P6 arrives I’ll be able to measure side-by-side as you have done so nicely in this thread.

Dang, I found a picture of my p6 barrel. I think I just smoothed out any nicks and a good polish. Basically make it a smooth journey up the ramp. The barrel hood beveling should follow Mark Novak s motto, "The best way not to mess something up is to not mess it up in the first place". Big Grin

^^^ thank you

What performance changes were achieved? Any HP?

(I’d really like to stick with Speer golddots all around.)

I sent my p6 barrel to a guy who used to frequent this forum years ago, I think he was in Romeo, Michigan. Can't remember the name of his company, but pretty sure it's not in business anymore. He did a good job.
