After looking at everyone's pictures, I think Kel Tec changed the angles of the rear face of the slide. Those trapezoidal flats I painted seem to be vertical on newer slides, not a separate angle. Here's mine after it was coated and before I painted them with Revlon China White nail polish: ____________________

Yeah, mine is more flat like an aircraft carrier deck. I went to an LGS this morning and picked up some Fiocchi 60gr JHP. That's what the boxes say. There is no question the tips are Hornady XTPs. They measure 0.940 to O.945. I put some in the magazine and they taking up more forward and back space in the mag than the Silvertips did which were 0.915. It is immediately apparent to the eye. I have high hopes for these Fiocchi JHPs. I may test these tomorrow morning. ____________________________________________________ New and improved super concentrated me: Proud rebel, heretic, and Oneness Apostolic Pentecostal. Due to inclement weather approaching, I went to the range. Range Day 4: I shot 20 rounds of the Fiocchi 60gr JHPs. They do not say Extrema on them. There were 3 failures to fully go into battery. It was ever so so close to full cycle, but not close enough. The slide did lock back each time it was called for. Next up, I went back to the Fiocchi 73gr FMJ and shot a 50rd box with no failures. That now makes 200 rounds with the 73gr Fiocchi FMJs with perfect 100% reliability. Therefore the verdict is in, my carry load is the 73gr Fiocchi FMJs. ____________________________________________________ New and improved super concentrated me: Proud rebel, heretic, and Oneness Apostolic Pentecostal. Yes, I'd go with fmj, but keep in mind that you can load whatever you want in the chamber.

I wish it would eat everything I'd feed it, but it is not possible. I suppose if the older Seecamps were captive to one specific cartridge, ie Silvertips, then my P32 can be too, ie 73gr FMJ. However, Seecamp went to great pains to let you know that. I do not see Kel-Tec doing the same. On the net, P32 owners just know what works and what doesn't, and 73gr European FMJ is the overwhelming choice. Everything I read and my own experiences draw me to one conclusion: Kel-Tec designed this pistol around hot European 73gr FMJ. That's all there is to it. Oh and BTW, I found a sporting goods store with the S&B 73gr FMJ. It's OAL is 0.975. I think it's supposed to be a tad hotter than the Fiocchi. ____________________________________________________ New and improved super concentrated me: Proud rebel, heretic, and Oneness Apostolic Pentecostal. I did a quick field strip of my P32 today and noticed that the ejector has lateral (inboard/outboard) play, maybe 1 -2 mm. I've never noticed this before but I suppose it could have existed all along. Anyone else notice this on theirs or do I have a problem?

My P11 has a little play in the ejector as well. Always figured it as normal. No problems with it in around 500 rounds. The Enemy's gate is down.

Mine moves a little left and right. There is no play forward and back. I think I read somewhere that the ejector was redesigned at some point along with the extractor for inclusion in the Generation 2 models. ____________________________________________________ New and improved super concentrated me: Proud rebel, heretic, and Oneness Apostolic Pentecostal. So, how 'bout a round of Speer Gold Dot in the chamber, and a magazine full of the S&B.
|
Admin/Odd Duck |
Yes, that makes sense. I am thinking about an HP in the chamber and maybe the first round in mag. Some on the Keltec owners forum say they use an HP in the chamber as well as an HP as the top round in their magazines. Then rest of their mags contain FMJs. They say as long as there are 6 FMJs in the mag, a top mag HP is safe from rimlock. I can see that the S&B FMJs with an OAL at 0.975 not being able to move much forward and back in the magazine (if at all), a top round in the mag with a shorter AOL HP should not be not be able to rim lock at all for any reason. That would give one the ability for the first 2 rounds as HPs. I am going to test this and see. ____________________________________________________ New and improved super concentrated me: Proud rebel, heretic, and Oneness Apostolic Pentecostal. Good news, I got a new mag and the slide lock works. Looks like I need a new mag spring or follower for the old one. ------------------------------------ My books on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/William-...id=1383531982&sr=8-1 email if you'd like auto'd copies.

Range Day 5: I went and shot 50rds of S&B FMJ. All went well until the 6th magazine of 7 rounds each. The slide locked back after the fifth round with 2 rounds left in the magazine. I shot one more full mag and it went fine. I inspected the P32 this morning. I removed the slide, put 2 S&B rounds in the magazine and slowly inserted it as I looked in the top. The S&B round had no clearance I could see as it passed by the interior face of the slide lock. It appeared to either barely touching or was touching as it went by. I have had this problem before in other high end pistols where the ammunition contacts the slide stop so I knew what to do. I took a dremel and very lightly removed material from the edge of the slide stop. While I have not range tested the pistol again, the S&B no longer touches the face of the slide stop as it goes by and the magazine still locks back fine. I think I have solved this problem. The S%B is a very snappy hot round BTW. ____________________________________________________ New and improved super concentrated me: Proud rebel, heretic, and Oneness Apostolic Pentecostal. Where did you find Geco? Me want, as long as it's still like days of yore. It's supposed to be fabulously hot, or used to be. The S&B FMJ is pretty stout and seems hotter than the Fiocchi. ____________________________________________________ New and improved super concentrated me: Proud rebel, heretic, and Oneness Apostolic Pentecostal.
