Which CZ pistol would make the best home defense gun? Updated? Login/Join

In your opinion, which CZ pistol would make the best home defense gun and why?
Thanks,
L

I was thinking that the all steel would help with the recoil for my wife. Is the recoil between the all steel and the poly very noticeable? I know that felt recoil is subjective, but if anyone has experience, I would like to learn from it.

I bought a pair of P-01 Suppressor Ready models. Rails, nightsights, threaded for my Liberty Centurion suppressors.

Whichever one fits you best and you shoot best. That being said, for a dedicated home gun, I'd go with the 97 because I prefer 45. I get the shot placement thing but in the case where you may only get one shot, I want 45 acp. just me...

P-09
I ran one all summer in USPSA and not a single malfunction. Oh, and you can put $15 worth of CGW springs in it and have a phenomenal trigger. Very easy to work on.

I would say almost any of them. The small size of the RAMI is not necessary as you won't be concealing it. Perhaps for dedicated home defense you might want to put a light on. Several models have rails, e.g., the P-01, P-07/09, SP-01 and others.

If it’s not going to be concealed, then go big... get an SP-01. You can’t beat 20rds of 9mm without reloading. Plenty of room for a light too as noted.

Of the ones I own, my favorites are the compacts. PO1 and PCR. That being said for HD I would pull out the all steel SP01 with the big extended mag. Tough combo to beat and it’s a pussycat to shoot.

^^^ I want this guy on my HD crew ^^^^ Cool

But if you meant the more traditional handgun, it's hard to argue against an SP-01.

P09. 19 round mags. Accurate as a laser beam. Omega trigger gives the option of a safety or de-cocker. Trigger out of the box is not bad for a CZ and with a little work it’s fantastic. Just an amazing pistol and it’s affordable too.

I should add that there's nothing wrong with the SP-01 either (own both) for pretty much the same reasons as the P09. It's a bit more expensive than the P09 though and it has 18rd mags vs. the 19rd mags in the P09.

In the end it may come down to plastic vs steel for the frame material. You would be good to go with either.

SP01. Full size, highest capacity, rail, can be had in the suppressor ready version if you have a can.

IMHO, the metal CZs are more comfortable than the poly CZs.

SP01 Tactical. It’s basically CZ75BD with a good rail, night sights and extra capacity out of the box. The weight and size make it incredibly easy to shoot.

Hell I would argue that as a dedicated home defense Gun you would be hard pressed to find much of ANYTHING better. Equal maybe, better because of personal pref. Or bias sure, but better purely on its merits no.

It’s a damn good repel boarders Gun.

I have to agree about the SPO1 Tactical. It’s got everything needed for HD duty.

This. Beretta’s Cx4 Storm is an excellent alternative although technically not a pistol and not a CZ but it uses the same magazines as Beretta’s 92/96 or Px4 Storm pistols.

Hard to beat the EVO 3 with a good light mounted if you’re looking 9mm Cz for HD...

Why limit it to just CZ?

This falls into the same argument as; "What is the best gun for CCW?"

It all boils down to whatever weapon you happen to own and are proficient with.

The OP can respond but CZ has killer LEO/IOP discounts which is why I did the Scorpion instead of the MPX. Now that I’ve shot it, I can’t see any need for spending 1000k more for the SIG but I digress.

I shot my 'new to me' SP-01 for the first time this morning.
Found that while the trigger isn't the best for bullseye shooting, it performs very well in rapid fire.
Quite accurate, high capacity mags, Tru-Glo sights and excellent ergo's. I also really like the 'cocked and locked' option. It will be put at my bedside for now.
Should, God forbid, I ever use it for self defense, and it gets held by law enforcement, it costs less that my Sigs Smile
