Michael,

I have another one of those S4- P239's. I also checked under high magnification and it seems like a 4 to me. Did you find out anything from Sig? I called them and the customer service person that I spoke with said that he had no record of an S4- serial number run.

I have a used P239 all stainless I bought just yesterday here in Grand Rapids, MI. It was marked by the dealer as "rare" having been a special order from Michigan Police Supply Co.

The serial number is S4-504xx (I checked the S4
under high magnification, and it is definitely a "4" and not an "A"). I sadly noted that the
Sig case did not accompany the P239 and the dealer said he will attempt find it. It is ALL
stainless, and shows very little "smiley" wear
on the .40S&W barrel.

I guess my next effort will be to phone Sig to see whether they will confirm this was a special run for some law enforcement agency customer of Michigan Police Supply, Lansing.

Thank you so much for doing this, I'm going to make a trip out to the safe in the morning. I've always searched online when making my older Sig purchases for a list like this, I saw several older 220s and 245s from Germany and VA at last weekend's gun show that I'd loved to had this for.

I didn't see this one listed, at least the month or close to its SN.

I also have one I am trying to sell so would like to authenticate the all stainless factory finish. S4-501xx. SIG CS can't help. Not very German/Swiss to not keep records of such things.

Since the 239's slide is known stainless, the question is whether you guys' guns are all stainless? Just stick a magnet on the frame and have your answer.
Stainless frame = magnet sticks
Aluminum alloy frame = magnet falls
