What did that set you back, if you don't mind my asking? ____________________________ NRA Life Member, Annual Member GOA, MGO Annual Member

Thank you, that is less expensive than I had been led to believe. Congratulations on acquiring such a nice piece of history. ____________________________ NRA Life Member, Annual Member GOA, MGO Annual Member

In addition to Anniston appears to previously been overhauled at benecia arsenal as well.(the BA mark just closer to the grip from the Anad mark) Of course pistols get worn out in regular training and non combat usage but benecia was on the west coast and Was open until 1964, so you can’t help but wonder ( no way to know for sure of course) if it was overhauled after service in the pacific, or possibly in Korea. There were plenty of people having fits over the cost of the CMP pistols, saying something to the effect why not get a modern updated pistol for the price they are asking. These people clearly don’t understand the history behind these guns and how you feel about them when they are under your care. My cmp gun is a Remington rand frame with post war colt slide, rebuilt by the USMC at the Albany GA depot shoots just fine and will get an occasional ( couple hundred rounds a year) range visit, but for me ( have had probably a dozen “modern” 1911’s in my years) it is all about the history

If you got a number, you will eventually get a call to give them money just be patient. From sending in packet to the phone call in round one was well over a year. From what I can tell they are moving a bit quicker in round 2 ( perhaps found some ways to do things more efficiently I suspect) But it could be months before you get contacted to complete the sale. Unlike some past offerings the 1911’s are NOT a lottery! ( in the past the cmp and DCM both did lotteries basically accepting applications of an unlimited number for a type of gun they had only a few of- my best recollections are they did this with carbines and M1D sniper rifles) if you got a number emailed to you, you just wait your turn and they will eventually get to you

Well that call finally came today! Nine months later, the CMP came through while I’m still waiting on BATFE for my stimulus bought suppressors to be ‘approved’. I too opted for Field Grade and cannot and wait to see what shows up! Stay tuned…..

KZ1000 just a suggestion, hold on to shipping box and all documents that came with the 1911. I'll join the chorus of not changing anything.
