CMP Round 2 1911. Field Grade, '42-'43 Remington Rand frame, Colt slide. Appears untouched since 1978 Anniston rebuild. Looks to be all USGI. Seeing how it shoots in a few hours. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ "Yidn, shreibt un fershreibt" "The Nazis entered this war under the rather childish delusion that they were going to bomb everyone else, and nobody was going to bomb them. Very nice pistol. Looking forward to hearing about how the old warhorse shoots. _________________________ "An appeaser is one who feeds a crocodile - hoping it will eat him last” - Winston Churchil

Good find. Hope you post a range report if you elect to shoot it.

That rug really tied the room together. |
How much was it? Do they have more? I'm honestly surprised that the Biden administration hasn't pulled the plug on the govt selling guns to mere citizens. Maybe they don't even know about the CMP. ______________________________________________________ Often times a very small man can cast a very large shadow

That's a Field Grade?!? Very nice! The CMP never ceases to impress. Have you shot it yet?

It's a soft shooter, but the sights are tiny. Gonna have to practice to be more accurate. Round 2 of CMP 1911 sales are closed. Hopefully there will be a 3rd. You can only buy once no matter the round. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ "Yidn, shreibt un fershreibt" "The Nazis entered this war under the rather childish delusion that they were going to bomb everyone else, and nobody was going to bomb them. Oh man. Very nice. If you’re only going to own one, that’s not a bad one to have. I have a ‘43 Remington-Rand just like it, but mine went back to work after the rebuild. Enjoy! ______________________________________________ Carthago delenda est

Too bad you cant trace its history. Maybe it was at Omaha Beach. Or the Bulge. In the jungle in Vietnam. Its our history. Held in your hands. End of Earth: 2 Miles Upper Peninsula: 4 Miles

I am shocked at how nice it is. I figured they would look like they’d been used as hammers. I stood in lust at the Smithsonian at the war weapons collection on display, yet none in the museum looked better than yours. Congrats

The problem with 1911s is they are musty. Soon as you have one, you musty have another. You’re a lying dog-faced pony soldier

Are you going to keep it as is or modify it? _____________

I saw a lot of commentary along these lines when they were announced, much of it qualified with "if they're anything like the rattle trap I was issued when I was in the service, you'd be lucky to hit the broad side of a barn with one, it'll be so shot-out." All I can say is thankfully, what got apparently issued and re-issued for decades had little correlation to what the US government had in storage, which you couldn't reasonably expect an infantryman to have any knowledge of. If you've been paying attention to what's been coming out of the CMP for the last few decades, you know that they grade pretty accurately, if not very generously to the buyer. I've been told the Field Grades of these two 1911 runs have been pretty remarkable pieces. Kz1000's pistol would qualify, I think. ______________________________________________ Carthago delenda est

Anyone contemplating modifying one of those pistols oughta be slapped. Hard. ______________________________________________ Carthago delenda est

We just had a CMP 1911 (complete Union Switch & Signal) transfer in through our shop. Very neat that it's complete but it was far more worn (battle?) and generally quite tired looking. Yours is a real beauty in comparison. Congrats. -MG
