I owned multiple MP9 1.0’s. Hated the trigger of course, did Apex replacement and the guns shot well but never excited me. Kept one sold one. Recently I picked up the all steel 5” MP HD Metal. Great gun. Still not a massive fan of the trigger but it is fine as is. Then I got the aluminum Carry Comp version. This is the problem. I went all in on Walter PDP’s and they are lasers. Love everything about them but 2 things. Chunky is number one. I can live with chunky. Number two is the extended slide catch. It’s waaay too long. My thumbs ride it no matter what unless I really really ride thumbs up and even then it’s not 100% for me. I had the same issue with HK but they sell a shortened ambi catch that I did to all my P30’s and voila, no issues. Walther has no such lever so I keep not locking back. Ugh. Enter the MP metals. Not chunky. Great grip and grip angle. Great sights. They even have a goofy Spec VI version with a factory ACRO mounted. Pricy but I found one for 300 less than everybody else so it’s coming. Still not a fan of the trigger. It’s not that it is a bad trigger it just “feels” flimsy with that thin plastic shoe. It does not feel “duty” rated. I suspect that is all in my head but it is in my head nonetheless. So I bought some more Apex. Forward set trigger group. I’m sure it’s great. It’s got like 9 combos of springs to get whatever weight you desire. I’m leaning towards the low to mid 4 lb range. It goes up to 5 something and down to 3 something. Where would you guys consider the “carry/duty” range? It amazes me that this common, relatively inexpensive option existed that has no appreciable downside that I have found shooting it the last month or so (600ish rounds so far). How did I miss these? Now I just have to find a holster maker. Hard to find a holster for the metal versions which I find odd. Any recs?

Agree like the gun it but with the spongy trigger feel it was a no go for me as well, other than that the gun felt good in the hand as well. Those metal MP's are really nice...

For a carry gun, no less than 4 1/2 to 5 lbs.

They have a combo or two in that range. I was leaning to the 4.2 but more is probably better since the pre travel is less.

I literally bought this exact pistol on gunbroker last night. I agree the 1.0 triggers sucked, 2.0 is better for sure. Best striker fired trigger I’ve pulled is the Glock performance trigger. That and Walther PDP

M&P Metal models are very good, as you have discovered. The Performance Center models (Competitor) come with the best factory trigger that S&W has put in the M&Ps. That being said…Timney makes a good trigger, and Apex is undeniably good. Glad you discovered the Metals!

Shot the Spec VI a few times. Nice package. I got mine for 1500 which still seems high but it is a great shooter. Took it out today again and when I got home the Apex man arrived. I installed it. It is nice. The newest stock triggers aren’t that far behind in all honesty. The gap between 1.0 stock and Apex was huuuge. The gap now is significantly less. I still prefer a mostly metal trigger so I’m happy and it is a great trigger so I would do it again. That being said I would recommend others to try out stock and see if they are good with that. Which they probably would be. My favorite of these by far though is stealing the steel frame from the HD and putting the Carry Comp slide on it. Basically perfection. I have one more Apex kit. I’m probably going to add it to the steel HD. They say it isn’t certified yet but the internet seems to be ok with that combo. We shall see.

I have the non-metal version of the carry comp and it is a great pistol. Very accurate for me. I didn't care for the all black optic height sights on it, so swapped them out. I had forgotten how damn difficult M&P sights are to swap out. Damn things are in there! The trigger is pretty good as well. Not as much of a felt reset as I'd like, but it's learnable and repeatable and has a crisp break. Might have to pick up the new Shield X carry comp as well. _________________________ "Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. Apex triggers are good. I recently installed an Overwatch Precision on an aluminum model. It's fantastic. Ignem Feram

I like it! I too did the Walther PDP dance since already doing the PPQ dance. Picked up this SKU: https://www.smith-wesson.com/p...ry-comp-od-green-fde I put this color Streamlight TLR-1HL on it: https://www.amazon.com/Streaml...l/dp/B01BT17UK6?th=1 Then I put this trigger in it in FDE: https://overwatchprecision.com...-tac-trigger-system/ Gun is awesome! Not sure if it will replace my CZ P-10's, but everyone that shoots it loves it. It's currently off to Floyds getting one of these barrels fitted with the Floyds Carry Comp Cut. I'll report back after that's all done but it should be a real shooter. https://www.apextactical.com/a...-fit-barrels-for-m-p https://floydscustomshop.com/C...rting-Fix_p_275.html IDPA ESP SS
