I finally got to shoot a P220 10mm this weekend. It was a P220 elite SAO. It felt like a Steel frame by the weight of the gun. Are all P220 10mm pistols steel frame? Is there a way to modify p220 45 mags by bending the feed lips to work with the 10mm?

As far as I know, all 220 10mm are steel framed in order to handle the 10mm round. I have the Legion da/sa and it is a super platform for the round. I cannot speak to the mags as I buy the 10mm designated mags.

ALL P220s that are Factory chambered are built on Steel frames

I am also fairly certain that all Factory original 10MM P220s are 5" barrels

This one is 15+ years old by now. I did have the forward finger hook removed from the trigger guard

Just like the lines better

If your skills are good I am certain that a 45ACP magazine could be made to hold 10MM ammunition

You are contemplating spending $1,200+ on your pistol and are concerned about $50 or so for a magazine?

The magazine is a very important part of your firearm. Without a functional magazine you have a single shot 10MM

.45 mags worked fine with 10mm in mine when I had them.

The 10mm mags have extra indents in the frame body for the narrower mag. But the .45 mags worked fine.

I’m not sure I would trust them for carry, but for the range they were 100% reliable.

Didn't the P220 10mm come out in 2014? Is yours really 15 years old? Prototype?

It might be older than 15, I am not where I can check my records

Before SIG listened to the wind and brought out a 10MM variant of the P220, Bruce Gray began this journey back in 2007 ?

That project is well documented here 10MM P220 story

I do not think I would call these firearms Prototypes, but they were the base that the production gun grew out of

The Sig 220 10mm (not the Grey Guns one) was officially announced at Shot Show 2015 I had one of the first ones and took delivery in April of 2015.

I used ACT standard .45 mags with it with zero issues.

I got mine in July 2015. It is a nice pistol!
The factory wood grips have been replaced with Hogue G10 for a long time.
All the newer models with coatings don't do much for me personally, I prefer the bead blasted stainless steel.
I use the OEM 10mm magazines and have no personal experience using P220 .45ACP magazines.
