I got a Sig P6 with a manufacture date of 1/79 and #109. My question is, on the slide where the abbreviation for the police district is, mine has been censored with two horizon lines thru the abbreviation making it unreadable. Why would they do that?

Maybe so people don’t assume it’s still police property

^^^To the best of my knowledge, that is correct. You’ll often see this on German police trade-in examples of the Walther P5 and HK P7 as well (in the same way too; two horizontal lines). Not being mistaken for police property (at least while they’re still in Germany and/or the EU) is generally the consensus as to the reason why.

Mine is the only one like that, all the others still are intact. Most are marked NW on the slide.
