Hi all was at my local place and saw a like new 226 with original Box around 1996 date according to the serial number. I'm always open to another 226 lol he's asking 525 . My question is if this has a slide that's able to be milled for a red dot which I have to check to be sure do you think it's worth going that route vs buying a m17 or m18 that has the cut out already . I don't have any polymer guns so I thought this would be a way to get a red dot on a metal frame for around the same price of polymer your thoughts?

I dont think you can mill a stamped slide for a red dot.

I'll have to check if it is a stainless slide I thought I read that 1996 is the year they switched over

That's my luck lol I'll take a look at it anyway to be sure . I was looking around and saw that sig sells the slides with the Romeo 1 and suppressor sights for 599 It says I can put it on my west german frame has anyone gone that route ??

I've done this myself. Works well, but the German Frame seems to be about .5 mm longer than the slide. Purely a cosmetic issue.
