Who Woulda Ever Thought? |
You can believe I will never buy another Taurus. I bought one of the nine shot 22 revolvers. It skipped on double action, the rear sight fell off, and the barrel leaded up so bad that is was just spitting lead fragments at the target. This was all in the same trip to the range. No thanks.

I remember hearing not too long ago that Taurus was stepping up its game. New managment, new manufacturing processes/facilities, etc.. Maybe it's having the desired effect? By spec, the Millenium G2 is and interesting gun. If it works, it's great for the price.

I have an 85 ultralight. I put new springs in it to smooth out the trigger pull. It goes bang every time. I do consider it my " disposable " revolver.

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Their old-school pistol based on the Beretta 92 and their blued and stainless .38/.357 revolvers do have a better reputation than many of their other offerings.

Let's be careful out there |
when I was young and poor i bought a 92, cuzI couldn't afford a Beretta. I couldn't hit the ocean from a dinghy with it. That's pretty normal, I guess, when the barrel is not rifled.......

Good luck if you ever need a repair. They will not ever ship a single, solitairy part. You must send the gun in at your expense, if you need anything fixed.

I'm pretty much the opposite right now. I have way more guns that I could ever need and have begun to thin and improve the herd. I am going for quality only now. I just get no satisfaction what so ever in shooting a gun that I'm just not into, especially when it has a poor trigger.

I got a 4” raging bull 44mag off a coworker who decided to pull thout plug on his Alaska plans after a year and move back down south. I got it for a ridiculously low price and I don’t Hi I he shot more than a box of Ammo through it. It seems ok but I can’t imagine paying the msrp on one.

However, if you happen to find a Taurus in the trunk of an abandoned car, rusted out and been through a fire, flood, earthquake, and at least three our of the four horses of the apocalypse, you can send it to them and they will refurb or replace it and send it back.

Yea, that is going to make me run out and buy a subpar gun when I need something to defend my life with, potentially. No thanks. There are much better options for just a tad bit more money. Call me a gun snob of ya want, but I would not buy one.

So...your original assertion was that Taurus wouldn't take care of the firearm, which is untrue. Backing off from that, the response is that you're a gun snob, so won't buy. Nothing wrong with that; you're a consumer and can do what you wish with your money, but the base assertion that the company won't back up their products is not true. The Taurus revolvers I've had, and I haven't had many, have been just fine. Fact is, the last S&W handgun I sent in for warranty work was refused, despite new, despite cracked frame, despite only a few rounds of factory ammunition, S&W welched out of their warranty and proved entirely dishonorable. In fact, they tried to sell me a replacement at greater than I could buy retail, and tried to call it a "factory replacement" with a different serial number, while keeping my firearm. That makes Taurus look saintly by comparison. Given that the Taurus revolvers are s&w clones, it's an apt comparison.

Back in the day when Taurus made affordable copies of Beretta 92 and Smith and Wesson revolvers they were good to go. Those are the only ones I've owned. I've even seen positive reviews of their 1911s. They do seem to have issues with some of their polymer offerings. God bless America...and no one else

My Taurus 99 (92 w/adjustable sights) was my first real pistol and was a reliable shooter. Of course this is back in the early 1990s. The .357 revolver I bought at the same time must have had a timing or trigger issue. Trying to shoot it fast would cause the cylinder to temporarily lock up. "And I think about my loves, well I've had a few. Well,I'm sorry that I hurt them, did I hurt you too" I Was Wrong--Social D.

I had one of their medium framed .357 revolvers. It was a good gun for the money. I can't say anything bad about it. The fish is mute, expressionless. The fish doesn't think because the fish knows everything.

Taurus products no longer have a lifetime warranty. They switched to only one year warranty effective January 1, 2017. Let us not forget the recall of one million pistols for a safety defect.

Just mobilize it |
Well I got herOut to the range today and I have to say I was pretty impressed. She ate up 100 rounds without any issues at all with strong consistent ejection and smooth operation. Sights are right on and the trigger although a little bit different than your standard Glock single action style trigger, is actually a pretty decent one and makes double taps quite easy. I really like the double strike capability as well although I didn’t need it. The thing points really nicely and feels great in the hand and although I’m not a very big fan of 3 dot sight pictures this one just does it for me the way they line up. For $220 after transfer I’d say this is an excellent bargain and has really changed my mind at least to a small degree about Taurus auto pistols. We will see how it holds up as I put more rounds through it as today was just primarily a short function test.

I didn't even get two shots off with that PT945. It fired the first round in the chamber and failed to extract the case. There is a real market niche, I think, for a low-priced ($200-ish) but still decent quality handgun, for those who can't afford a Glock, M&P, CZ, P320, et al but can do better than a Hi-Point.
