Like many on here I have a decent collection of nice weapon systems including Sig’s, Berettas, HK’s, Smith and Wesson’s etc. etc. I don’t mind spending a little extra coin if I really like the gun or if I’m planning on keeping it forever. It’s funny though lately I have found myself searching for more and more bargains and in that I have come across some weapon systems that I once considered “lower end”. So far my cheaper buys have paid off and the guns that I bought lately have shot just as well as my more expensive ones from prior, which is a great feeling to get a good gun for very good price. Funny thing is that during all of this I never considered buying a Taurus handgun and would actually try to talk people out of buying one when they asked me advice. Well I guess throw all that crap out the window now because I just bought a Taurus last night! After buying a Palmetto State Armory A.R. pistol I get these emails with their deals almost every day and I can’t help but click on them and look at what they have to offer. Well last night I saw they had a Taurus G2C 9mm for only $200 shipped and though it felt wrong I put it in the cart and I bought it. I had read some positive reviews about the PT 111 and this is supposed to be just an updated version of that. I figured at bear minimum it will be a good car gun or knock around that I can just play with the range or if my buddy wants to borrow a gun I could give it to him and not have to lend one of my really good pieces. I’m not sure what to expect or if I’ll even like it but for the price I’m sure I could get my money back if I don’t. Does anyone have one of these? I hope this doesn’t mean I’m going to get a High Point next

I grabbed a Taurus 85 last year when Palmetto was selling them dirt cheap. I've had a few Taurus firearms, revolvers, before. Never had a problem with them.

Not an especially great price Taurus G2C Prices Sure, for a beater / loaner piece it might be ok - then again I'm a big believer that if a man or woman needs a gun, they should buy their own gun. I have a BIL that has "wanted" a gun for a couple of years - he tried to get his Dad to buy a LCP for him (he's simply too lazy to go to the gun store). For about 3 seconds I thought about gifting him a LEO trade in Glock I have, then I thought again.

I won't even consider a Taurus, but I'm biased. It was 23 years ago, but the memory of the steaming turd of a PT945 I had is still fresh. However, many people have had no trouble with their Taurus handguns, and it doesn't mean you didn't get a good one. Try it out, and it might pleasantly surprise you and actually work.

The list you posted had $184 as the best price (stainless too), though $30 shipping still puts it $15 more than what I paid. $200 seemed reasonable. I can most likely dump it locally for at least what I paid if I don’t like it.

The G2 pistols are not bad little guns. I only have an 85 now and it is a nice little nightstand gun. The second gun I ever bought was a satin 92 Taurus. Those things were/are tanks.

The 92 knock off I owned blew up in my face. My nephew's Smith revolver knock off fell apart while carrying it in his pocket. "You can take your pistol and stick it so far up your ass, the muzzle of it is visible when you cough."

I believe the PT111 was the best selling model of pistol, two years in a row on GB... ______________________________________________ Life is short. It’s shorter with the wrong gun…

I have a G2C that I picked up for $199. The looong take up in the trigger really sucks but it's been 100% reliable. The first pistol that I bought with my own money was the Taurus copy of the Beretta 92 and it was also completely reliable. Taurus makes two kinds of handguns, one fairly well made and reliable, the other not so much. Which kind you get depends on whether Juan can stay awake during his shift. I have one that I bought a decade ago that still works flawlessly. Easily over a couple of cases of 9mm through that 709 Slim by now; still waiting for that first hiccup. Wimpy grip ergonomics but it works just as confidently as my G43 and PPS M2. My original PT111 Millennium Pro conversely was a sorry piece of work. Never could get that thing to lock back consistently on the last shot, even with thumbs flying far away from the frame. Quite a few hollow points wouldn't feed reliably, and more than a few types of round ball followed suit. It still amazes me that I freely bought that rattle trap of a gun. Past history aside, we had through the shop a lot of recent production Taurus product, including the G2C. Whether surprising or not, we've had almost no gripes or complaints about problems or failures. Almost, because we did have one report of a non-extracting 738, which we sent back to the factory for this regular customer. It's been back for well over a year and I've shot it on a couple of occasions. It runs like one would expect of any gun; no heartburn besides its ample snappiness. We've been hearing similar experiences from customers with the rest of the Taurus range that we sell. It certainly doesn't excuse the horrors that earlier product was saddled with, but from what I've seen and heard of late it does seem like Taurus has turned things around.

For real? |
My old Taurus PT99AFS from 1997 is a tank. A coworker carries one of Taurus' PT1911 and has had no issues. I haven't tried any of their other offerings. Not minority enough!

Good to hear the positive accounts. I’m starting to raise my expectations of this thing. It should be fun just to try out.

There are a lot of Taurus haters. I’ve had a couple of dozen over the years. And have half a dozen now. I recently bought a g2c. It works well and fits my Desantis holsters for the P250. And 200 ain’t bad-some of the sites listed don’t include shipping and/or "membership.” I did wear out a Taurus revolver-the company gave me my choice to replace it, I took a PT92. Most Tauri are made in FL now, too. It may still be Juan, but it’s a stateside Juan. Btw, the G2 will accept P226 mags. No more typing on a cell phone!

Not this time, although I have been guilty in the past. This one is a combination of typing on a cell phone, arthritis, and high humidity. Thank God for the edit function!

Ive had a handful of their revolvers over the years and never an issue. For a .357 under 200.00 I can afford to hide them all over the house and cars and never think twice. ________________________________

I have sent back a pile of PT111's in the past few years, I have sent back 0 G2's thinking Taurus got their act together after the class action lawsuit, their revolvers are decent, and the 92/99 are great handguns, ditto the pt1911, no issues either, https://chandlersfirearms.com/chesterfield-armament/

On of the guys in my shop in Germany had almost the same experience with these two Taurus guns, too. I had just gotten into handguns and luckily, I was steered to a P228 for my first pistol. The issues this guy had with his Taurus guns immediately and permanently soured me on them. "Also I heard the voice of the Lord saying who shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, here am I, send me."
