Glock 21 Question
I bought a Glock 21 SF from a friend a while back. I ordered a few mags from CDNN. They are not compatible. The notch that the retaining latch catches is different. I'm really not familiar with Glocks, so how do I order the proper magazines? I need the ones with the notch in the front, not the sides.

The newer magazines (current new stuff you can purchase) should have the left, right and front cut to make them compatible with all previous generations. You have the ambi-version no doubt.

I think Glock has quit the front cuts on the 17 and 22 mags, but think they are still available on the 21 mags.

Just to expand on what Jerry said, here's a visual reference:

Glock 21SFs with that different style ambidextrous mag release were offered for a short time. They require G21 mags with the horizontal rectangular cutout on the front of the magazine, as seen on the two mags on the right in the above photo.

If you buy new Gen 4 G21 magazines, they should be compatible. Older Gen 3 and earlier G21 magazines won't be. If in doubt, email the seller to make sure they have the horizontal cutout on the front.

Another thing to watch out for is that these ambidextrous G21SFs also have a different rail on the front of the frame. It's a true Picatinny rail, not the standard Glock rail. So your ambi G21SF won't fit in most standard G21 holsters.

Ambi G21SF with Picatinny rail:

Standard G21SF with usual Glock rail:

Thanks. The pictures helped give me the words, if you know what I mean. I'm not always a visual learner, but then I'm not always much of a lerner, either.
