I myself abandoned my .40/.357sig carry during the Biden yrs. because I wanted more rounds in case I was cornered by a mostly peaceful progressive gathering (RIOT).
After all, we have the new 9mm. Not the old one from 20 yrs. ago.
I still enjoyed this video from Massad Ayoob. For the .357Sig fans.

I carried a P226 in 357SIG while policing from 2003-2018 when I retired. The department was going back to the 9mm due to cost savings and qualification percentages.
We carried the Speer gold dot 125 grain and I used it to dispatch many deer, struck by cars. I was attacked by a giant Rottweiler during a search warrant once when the owner sicced it on me. And once by another rotty that came across a fence after me. The GD went from chest to the rump and was recovered under the skin.
In both uses it worked. Our SWAT guys shot an armed man with it and it was a one shot and done. Center mass, dropped him.
Still have the pistol, but bought a 40S&W barrel so I can use that caliber.

I’d be interested to see how a .357 Sig would work in a PCC platform. There are a few 10mm ones out there but no 257 Sig. with the velocity advantage of a 6-ish inch barrel, and a lighter, higher velocity round than a 10mm, it should shoot a bit flatter with more usable range than most PCCs.

Wasn’t there an MP5 variant in 357 Sig? Maybe experimental for USSS back in the day?

Yes, you can still build a custom one. It won't be cheap and will require gunsmithing. Here is a barrel .
My first carry gun was a P226R in .357SIG. I still have it, though it doesn't get shot too much anymore. It is still a great round.

Why was .357SIG always so expensive, relatively speaking? Lack of supply? The cost of the bottleneck case? I mean it’s basically just a .40 necked down to a 9mm projectile. Neither of those components were rare?
Ballistically .357SIG is a pretty amazing round but I never liked its “blast” so to speak. Not the recoil as that was a non issue but the blast wave/noise/crack it put out was always a bit off putting to me.

That was a really informative Massad Ayoob video, as are all of his. I especially enjoyed hearing him describe shooting water mocassins with it (and other calibers) and how the snakes reacted to being hit by the various calibers.
I have a SIG P229 all stainless steel in 40 S&W bought NIB but have never picked up a 357 SIG barrel for it (yet). Does SIG still sell barrels in that caliber?

This. It's also ridiculously LOUD indoors.

He alluded to it but bullet setback can be an issue with repeated chambering of the same round. Alway a good idea to inspect as you load the mag to avoid the extra spicey. I also have a sp2022 in 357. Definitely has a bite to match the bark.
I have a P239 DAK in 357 Sig. it was one of my most carried guns. Still do on occasion. Recently picked up a P250 sub compact in .40. I would love to find a 357 SIG barrel for it if anybody has one laying around.
