Ruger Mark IV lowers available? Login/Join

Hey all-

Does anyone know where to source Ruger Mark IV lowers/grip frames? The upper is the serialized part so they don't need an FFL transfer.
Numrich has Mark III in stock on sale for $12 but I can't seem to find anything available for the Mark IV for under $300. Midway does sell a nice Volquartsen lower but it's priced like you would expect.

Make it totally clear to anyone standing at the wrong end that things are going badly for them. If that means sticking all sort of spikes and prongs and blackened bits all over it then so be it. This is not a gun for hanging over the fireplace or sticking in the umbrella stand, it is a gun for going out and making people miserable with." -Douglas Adams

If you find one, let me know. I've got some extra uppers lying around and wouldn't mind having a factory .22/45 lower to go with them.

Yeah, I think it's your fault that I am looking! It was your thread that made me look at uppers on the Volquartsen website. $30 for a pencil upper!

I never found any for a reasonable price. If I knew anything about 3D printing I would start a project to make a lower with collapsible stock rods M3/MP7 style. Would make a great compact squirrel and grouse gun.

Check out Wirthwein Guns for all things Ruger MK-Series related. A bit of patience may be required to find exactly what you're looking for since their inventory continuously updates. Good luck!

Thanks. I was aware of them. The cheapest they have is $375. I think I paid $329 for the whole complete Mark IV 22/45. It's bonkers that I can get a Mark III lower for $12 and can't find a Mark IV for under $350. Bonkers.

It’s always been like this due to the fairly unique nature of the design where the “receiver” or “upper” is the serialized firearm. Lowers are always in very high demand, or have been during the 15 or so years I’ve been in the market. I still have a couple uppers in need of MKII or MKIII 22/45 lowers.

Yep. It's cheaper to buy a whole new gun than a lower off that site. Makes no sense.

Thank you. Any idea where I can get a complete lower? Ruger won't sell the guts/parts and Numrich only has about half of them, which add up to $225 and the rest are out of stock/unavailable and would add another benjamin probably. Not such a great deal since the complete pistols were only about $300 as you likely know.

My thought was to Ebay the mainspring and some small parts, then get the Volquartsen kit for the rest. Not super cheap but it will be way better than factory.
