I am the proud owner of a .357 Sig SP2340. One of the most under rated Sigs in my opinion. Can I use a .40 cal barrel from an SP2022? They are available new from Sig and I have a 25% off coupon. Anyone know or has anyone tried this? Thanks in advance. Smile

Yes, fully compatible. Any aftermarket barrel *might* need a little fitting, but Sigs are usually okay.

Get all 3 while you're at it! Yes, including the 9mm barrel. Wink

I believe you will need a 9mm slide to shoot 9mm. The case heads are different from 40/357. However you CAN get an SP2009 slide, which is the 9mm version of the SP2340 of this discussion.
Of course this than begs the next question. Can you use Current production SP2022 slides on a SP2340 ? Or vise versa? (is that spelled right?) Well regardless you STILL need a 9mm slide to shoot 9mm and a .40/357 Sig slide to shoot either of those...

The difference is almost negligible.

Base diameter:
40S&W .424 in (10.8 mm)
9mm. 9.93 mm (0.391 in)

The 40 slide/extractor does not seem to be affected by the .033 in (.87mm) difference.

40 S&W barrel

Yeah? Ummm, no.
While I wouldn't use it in the 9mm configuration for SD, it shoots just fine. This "used to be" common knowledge among SIGPro fans. Of course I just posted that picture because I've never bothered to try doing it. Wink

I'll even add that I've used 9mm barrel/ammo with .40S&W magazines without changing recoil springs as well. I wouldn't trust that configuration for anything other than range use, but it shoots just fine.

Back when I had my 2340 I bought a factory .357 barrel and a Bar Sto 9mm barrel. Wish I knew then a factory one would have fit lol (this was back in 2006 or so). Alas all are sold now.

Gentleman, you have proven that you can get away with shooting a 9mm barrel in a slide designed for a .40 S&W or .357 Sig. However, with all due respect, just because you can do it dosn't mean it is a good idea. The measurements prove that there is a difference. And when dealing with the pressures of the .40/.357, or even the 9mm, that is, in my opinion not wise to do.
Of course if the zombies are breaking down your door and you have no other choice, than screw the gun and screw safety. Otherwise, get the correct barrel for the correct slide in the correct caliber.
Also, consider new shooters might (WILL) be reading this one day. this is simply bad advice and not a good example to set. I will get off my soap box now...

Noted. Razz

Just to clarify: No one, and by that I mean me, is recommending it for any particular gun other than the SIGPro, which is indeed what this thread is pertaining to.

I'm also 2000% sure that I'm not the only person that has used a factory 9mm barrel in a .40 SIGPro slide. Smile
It's been discussed here in this forum, A LOT.

Back in 2012 or so, when I was collecting my sigpro accessories, Gunbroker had at least 10 pages deep of this pistol ( shortly after production was started up in Exeter, NH). Oh, lest we forget the "diamond plate" era. I just looked and only saw 3 SP2022 (none in 40) pistols total and only 4 SP2340 versions. I believe new shooters are safe unless they are hell bent and money is of no concern. The sigpro and p239 are my favorite 6 pistols to take to the range Wink

Well, one thing we can all agree on, the SigPro series is probably the most under rated Sig ever produced. Fantastically smooth DA trigger, super accurate and with light recoil. It is one of my favorite Sigs.
