I have been on here a for a long(ish) time, but it has been a while since I have been here. My bad for sure!

I shot a friends P211 GT4 this past week and was looking to get info on the collective opinion of the good people here.

I really could not find much info / threads on them.

The one I shot, was all stock. The trigger, out of the box was excellent (not awesome, but excellent especially since it was stock), it was amazingly accurate.

What has been the experience and consensus here?

Secondly, and I hope I am not breaking a Frum Rule or protocol (and Para, I apaolgize in advance if I am), but what happened to the classifieds. I had bought a large (ish) number of gun off here (sold a whole bunch less because I am a hoarder) and have a had great transaction and some people, multiple deals.

I was going to look for a P211 in the classifieds but it is gone . Needless to say I was disappointed, but also a little bewildered. I know Para did an amazing job of keeping a tight leash on the rules and participants.

Something had to have happened.

Again, hope I am not speaking of what is supposed to not be spoken of (I did look around to see if there were rules around this), but I am curious and if they may become active in the future

Some gun boards closed down, so the trash that hung around the marketplace of those boards, in order to steal, migrated here.

Classifieds will reopen and if they want to try their shit again, they're going to be frustrated. Me? I'm here every day. I won't get tired, but they may.

I was surprised, but given the backdrop of what you said, I def get it.

You have always done a great job of keeping the grifters off the classifieds (and the trolls off the other boards).

Look forward to reengaging here and the classifieds when the reappear!

Glad to hear it will reopen eventually. I haven't been very active for a while, and I was sorry to see it closed.

while they are two different platforms, I am interested in the accuracy of the P211 vs the CZ Shadow 2.

Hey Scott,

I don’t have a lot of time on the GT4 but do on the GT5. To me the GT4/5 hits a sweet spot of the gun has a 2011 feel without a lot of the 2011 problems. The external extractors are worry free, and magazines aren’t as finicky as the legacy STI 2011 style mags. It also doesn’t seem to be ammo finicky.

In my hands I can bang out .15-.16 splits without issue. The gun tracks really well with most of my efforts being on Glocks.

Downside to me is the weight. While it’s a blessing and a curse my transitions are slower with the GT5. Although I can shoot the GT5 faster shot to shot, the Glock still wins because I can drive it faster to a precise spot where I’m looking. Guess that is what a bunch (literally don’t know how many rounds I’ve shot through Glocks) will get you.

As to the CZ, it depends on the end user. For USPSA, the CZ will put you in carry optics or production. The Gt4/5 will be limited or limited optics. Pick your poison. For general shooting, I’d probably call it a draw. If I wanted to compete, I’d prolly go the CZ in carry optics after being Cajunized.

The biggest issues with the P211 was the original GTO model. It was the first new gun Sig came out with after the big P320 blow up and also highlighted Sig using us a beta testers again. The first big issue is the reverse plug that holds the recoil spring in the gun was made of plastic and if reinstalled incorrectly, would shatter inside the gun and disable it. All new models now have a metal reverse plug, and if you have an older gun, Sig will send you a metal one for free if you give them the serial number on the gun. The other issue was the way the compensator attached to the gun with needless springs and the screw would walk out on you if you didn't retighten it every 250-500 rounds. Sig's original directive was not to use locktite on that screw, but now seems to be OK.

The GT4 and GT5 don't have any of those issues. My sole issue with them now, besides price tag, is these guns are about as heavy as full steel CZs and Tanfoglios. If Sig came out with a version in the 35oz range like most 2011s, I'd buy one, but I get the feeling they'll tell me the gun I should buy is the P226 SAO I already have.

The two best YouTube channels I'd direct you to on P211 content is TheHumbleMarkman. He's a reviewer that compares every gun to where it would fit in competition and who just posted a video today comparing the GT4, GT5, and GTO with the sight block to each other.



RDR Gear also does gun reviews more from the duty side and gives much more insight into hoslter fitment as his company sells and modifies duty gear for law enforcement. He's got a 10,000 round review coming up on the P211, but here's the newest video on his GTO.

I have about 300 rounds through my GTO and it’s been perfect. I got it back in June when Modern Warrior was running a Sig sale for under $2k. I would buy it again even at full boat.

I am looking mostly at the GT5. I like accurate guns and the one I shot was very accurate.

Jerry, I compete rarely these days and if I did, I would still stick to production, even though my eyes are not what they used to be!

And Para, the reopening of the classifieds are both a blessing and a curse.

Blessing in so much a safe place to transact with good people whom at least have some history even if it is online (as opposed to complete strangers on a local gun classifieds)

Curse in so much that the temptation of “stuff I just realized I can't live without” will be like a Labrador at an unattended buffet.

We all know how this ends!!!!

I am in carry optics right now. Once I make master in CO, I’m moving to single stack. Randy is building me a single stack gun as we speak.
