Nice grips, from Altamont maybe?
I've been looking at their grips for a pair with the rampant colt inlay like these.

Neat Commander I picked up a couple of years ago.
Gunsmith called Colt and confirmed lineage of the pistol. built by Colt for Lew Horton, 1998 only, 350 produced. Compensated barrel w/full length guide rod, double diamond grips, special sights unique to this model.

So what do you do with your 3rd string 2011 to get more use out of it??

Pop the magwell off and have a 9mm commander length top end fit to it to make a carry gun...

I bought them from another company a couple years ago - I'll have to dig up the receipt, as I don't remember the name.

Edit: I got them from Merchant Gun Grip Supply - www.gungripsupply.com

WOW! I just posted a thread about differences of P220 and 1911 models. Then I found this thread. Now my desire for a 1911 is overwhelming. I see a lot of models without badging with a nice clean look (No brand/model script on the slides, grips, etc). What are most preferences? Brand and/or model boldly displayed, or clean?

I have two and one is a Colt 1911 Government and the other is a Custom Norinco. The 1911 Colt has a custom barrel bushing, custom trigger, and Novak Combat sights. The Norinco 1911 is a full custom and the work on both was done by Ickey Starks of Sports West in Denver.

Norinco 1911

I prefer mine to have a small or clean script. Also, if you are comparing some of these to the P220, you'd be better served comparing them to the X-Six.

I like them clean unless they say Colt, personally. I'd like Les Baers better if they changed their font, honestly. If I ever get one I'm going to ask them to not mark their billboard on the slide. Probably cost extra. Big Grin

Dan Wessons are pretty clean and I like that.
