On my duty gun I use Loctite 243- It's the medium strength but oil resistant one. Regular blue (242) and others are not oil resistant-

Another vote for VC-3 and I would also add a strong vote for aftermarket mounting plates. I use and like the C&H Precision plates as they fill in the gaps on the MOS slide and keep lateral pressure off the mounting screws under recoil. There are stories on the internet of screws being sheared off under recoil but I’ve never known anyone who has actually witnessed such an event. A good trick once the screws have been tightened to the required torque specs is to mark the screw and RMR with a marker to quickly check that the screws are not blacking out.

Any experience with the mounting plate that comes with the Gen5 MOS Glocks? GTG or better to stick with the Trijicon AC32064 or C&H plate for RMR mounting?

People often quote about “eleventy billion” rounds that they have personally shot or witnessed go down range across XYZ platform. I do it myself.

I honestly don’t know how many rounds I’ve witnessed or shot through MOS Glocks. But, I can tell you I shoot between 2-3k rounds per month every month. And I work with dudes that shoot for work a few times a month. To say we shoot a lot is a bit of an understatement.

I’ve never witnessed a *properly installed Glock plate cause problems.

*where I have seen problems-
Improper installation of the plate to the slide. Mainly, not tightening the plate down evenly on installation or I saw one dude that got the end that goes toward the chamber wedged and the plate wasn’t flat. He torqued it anyways AND mounted the optic. The optic mysteriously wouldn’t zero.

Using the wrong length optic screws to mount the desired optic to the plate. This is the most common one. Particularly with RMR and factory screws. The Glock specific screws that ship with the RMR aren’t made for MOS guns. They are too long and they will bend the factory MOS plate if you use them.

I wouldn’t waste money on an aftermarket plate if I did not have to.

On my new Gen 5 G20, I went with the no plate needed Holosun SCS. Mounts low enough that factory height sights work fine. Up to about 300 rounds through it now, including some hot Underwood. No issues thus far.

I just invested in a Fix It Sticks kit. I have always torqued by feel which clearly has worked but I acknowledge the shortcomings of my methodology.

Lately I have been enamored of factory cut optics combos. Specifically my two favorites that I bought are the PA State Police version of the PDP with a factory cut and mounted Aimpoint ACRO and the Glock 19 COA which seems to be a better ACRO with what looks like a pretty bulletproof mounting system.

I also love the SCS system. Mine are both PDP. No plate is clearly better than a plate. This is the way.

I am curious to buy another optic just so I can play with the torque limiters and gauges (I bought both). I figure my hand is fairly accurately calibrated but we shall see.

I don't own a Glock with a mounted MOS optic. I have a cut slide and the COA. All my MOS Glocks are iron sighted. Hmm. Maybe I need to remedy that.

Interesting revival, looked up the VC3 and amazon told me I'd ordered it back when the thread started, saved me another $40!

What TQ screwdrivers are best, plenty on Amazon, from $30 to $130.
