Hello,, digging through some old stuff in safe and dug out an old 40cal 229. It has a uspis serial prefix and it’s DA/SA ,,, did any of these come with da/sa or were they all DAK and this one was converted ? Thanks !

Sounds like a conversion, because the USPIS (United States Postal Inspection Service) P229 is supposed to be a DAK.

Conversions happen. I have a Ruger Police Service Six. It was shipped to the NYPD. It has the range acceptance stamp (a five point star) in the yoke. I bought it from the former NYPD Officer that got it in the academy and carried it on the street.

Yet, it had a full hammer and was DA/SA. Rugers paperwork says it shipped DAO.

I neglected to ask him if he had it converted after he left NYPD and went to Nassau County PD.

Perhaps Nassau county allowed TDA and their armorer switched it and he carried it there for awhile before they went to autos and, before I bought it.
