Big Stack |
I'm still skeptical of the new Glock models Recoil is pre-announcing. The only other sources that are talking about this are quoting Recoil. All the pictures being posted are Recoil photoshops. Until this information is confirmed from another direction, I'm not taking it as real.

A "single stack G19?" Why?

What’s that supposed to do that a 43 or 26 can’t?

would be great for small hands. Big enough to get a good grip on and some mass to absorb recoil without being too big. It's why I love the MP Shield EZ for my wife, it's not some tiny pocket gun that's hard to shoot, she can get a good grip on it and it shoots well. I would get her a single stack G19 in a second, would be perfect for her. Good 9mm protection, glock reliability, small enough for her to handle, big enough to handle well Don't weep for the stupid, or you will be crying all day

10 rounds I’d assume so it would compete with the P365 and if its a single stack of some sort, it will be narrower and thus easier to conceal. I’m somewhat interested although I would prefer a Walther PPQ M2 single stack or a VP9 version. And more options is always a good thing for firearms IMO. __________________________

The Recoil article seems to be mashing up a bunch of separate rumors. The Model 48 will be a 4.5 inch barrel single stack? But then they say it might have a double-to-single stack mag to increase capacity. It seems to me that such a mag in a Model 17 size gun would be over ten rounds so it would still be a no-go in states with mag limits.

What's it going to do that my ten round 239 cannot already do?

I've said this before; my small baby hands have never had a problem with a standard Glock grip, though pre-Gen4 large frame guns (10mm, 45AUTO) were another matter. AFAIC this wouldn't fulfill that so-called need for myself but damn do I hear it regularly from customers who have hands significantly larger than my own. Perhaps a gun like this would appease these apparently lost souls, though it IS amazing how they quickly STFU whenever I hold my puny paws up against theirs. Man up or buy a itty bitty .380 LCP I say. As for the carry aspect; a G43X makes sense because of the P365 and the fact that the G43 was always down on firepower from the word 'go' and arrogantly stayed that way unless aftermarket assistance was invoked. Taran Tactical's reason for coming into its own is wholly due to Glock's own underwhelming lo-cap G43 mags; for this there's a swath of the aftermarket who should bow to the pigheadedness of Glock product planners. The concept behind this so-called G48 however seems like wasted energy. Who benefits from a longer barrel thin stack? Certainly not the sporting side since Glocks are NOT target pistols. Their inherent tolerances and foul-designed "Safe-Action" triggers don't foster repeatable shots into a single, not-so-ragged hole. So if not a target gun then why? This the age of the M&P9 Compact 3.6 "being better" than its mildly longer 4" sibling. People crave smaller, not longer and taller. But taller can be excused if capacity and firepower is upped. In the case of Glock, longer is just longer without any real performance benefit. Because regardless of how the Gaston faithful spin it, it's STILL going to shoot like any other Glock. Because that's all Glock knows how (and probably wants) to build. Of course Glock likes money just like everyone else does, so that alone might kick this silly concept into some form of reality. But I certainly don't see this as being a big seller for them, just like the P239 was never as good a seller as the P228/9. Or Glock's own G36 compared to the sibling G30.

Grumble gumble.... more 9mm's. I'm still waiting for a single stack .45ACP. A full sized G36 please. I'd be willing to pay more than $400! (my self imposed price ceiling on Glocks.) I'd argue a shorter grip (P365) is easier to conceal than a longer grip, even if it were narrower, which I doubt it would be anyway. My P365 fits in the same holster as my G42, so it's plenty narrow. This message has been edited. Last edited by: SIG228,

I'll say this in my best Glock Fan-boy voice: "YAWN...." Seriously Glock. You lost. Walther beat you. S&W beat you. And now Sig is beating you... --------- If you appreciate private ownership of firearms, please join the NRA, before it's too late. (Benefactor Member)

I always thought a longer barrel translated into an increased muzzle velocity. Which yields an increase in muzzle energy as well. And a longer barrel is not much harder to conceal over a shorter barrel. To a point.
