Is this new iteration a lemon like the first one?

Who cares? So many better options, why risk finding out?

Guns fascinate me.

I never said I was buying. I'm curious about the gun.

agreed

it's like doing a comparison between HiPoint, Bryco and Jennings to figure out which one is the best.

Why bother?

I guess I am just interested in pretty much any gun out there. I buy few of them, but learning about them is satisfaction enough.

So I'm curious about this one.

Well, perfect time for you to find out first hand and report back. But, I'll tell you, no one on here that I am aware of gives a crap about this gun.

If you're interested in this pistol, you should seek out an original Model 51. It's a world of difference from the thing they're trying to sell you these days.

+1

I'm pretty familiar with that one. That's part of the reason I'm curious about this sort-of attempt to piggyback off the old one.

I rented one (fairly new, in good shape) and fired about 30 rounds.

It was OK, but I didn't think it had a lot less muzzle flip than other pistols (Remington's claim).

Kind of like punching yourself in the cods to see what that feels like ain't it?
Curiosity isn't curiosity if you already know the answer. No need to ball up your fist and taking your best swing to confirm what you already know is it?

Were these the first model or second?

I've read the "improved" model...isn't.

No first hand knowledge.

If you are interested, either find one for rent or purchase one. Please report back on your findings.

I think it's bogus for Remington to even call that POS a Model 51.

Too many other decent 9mm handguns with proven reliability to buy.

Remington 51? Uh, NO.

The second “improved “ model. The first was even worse.

That's what I wondered.

Rem made a big deal about fixing all the warts. Then they rolled out the supposedly fixed model. I read one review and the reviewer made an excuse for failures a la the first go-round. I admit I got a chuckle out of it.

The thing is, the IDEA has some merit as a unique option in the marketplace. But how stupid could Rem be, especially in today's electronic media world where even minor problems are overblown and big problems are immediately known to all, to 1} roll out a loser and then 2} make big noise about a fix that isn't.

It seems there are a lot of people who don't like the common striker fired triggers and a different approach might be a viable niche market.

But it's preferable to have a pistol that actually goes bang...

I had an original one of these, interesting guns. Got rid of it because you had to be careful what ammo was used.

I was interested to hear that they were making a modern one.... and then bummed that apparently they're shit.

Arc.
